What kind of items? What do you make to sell?

Now Brenda, don't be silly! You know SL is all about 1) teh sexxors and 2) getting rich quick with little to no effort.

Brenda is right - how you sell items depends on what items you have built to sell.
The two main ways are to stick copies of the item in a vendor of some sort - it can just be a single prim that looks like a sign advertising the item or something more complicated, or to stick the item itself out and set it for sale in its properties. This second way won't work for system clothes because they can't be rezzed unless you are wearing them, but should work for anything made of prims. It gives people a good look at the item, but uses more prims on your parcel.
If you let us know what you created, people here can give you some ideas as to what the best way is to sell them. Maybe explain your question a little as well. You might have meant "where" can you sell your creations. In that case, the advice is totally different.

When in doubt, beware of RA posters =x
But, seriously - You got the Classifieds on the forums here, ingame vendors and such, and slexchange.com and some other websites, too.
You don't "have" to sell items on all three - just pick any =)

I just recently put something out on SLExchange, they explain real easy how to setup an item to sell it. Don't know if anyone would ever want something I made but might as well give it a shot, started with a rather simple item.

From: Jen007 Lemon I just started playing second life and i dont know what ways do i have to sell items... any1 can tell me how to do it? thanks Seriously now - if you just started, how can you possibly be ready to sell anything? What have you made? If you purchased one or more of those Business In A Box items then you were ripped off as all of those items are either things readily available for free across the grid and/or items that have been stolen. Try to take a bit of time and learn/understand SL first - learn what it is about and what kind of interest/skills you have here and you will have a better idea of what might be good for you to try to sell.

Another area you could sell your goods is on SLex.

1) Have something to sell. That means either you've built it and therefore have the IP rights, or possibly you've bought something you don't want and would like to sell it on (yard sale). In the latter case it'd have to be 'transferable' in it's properties or you can't even give it away.
2) Have a place to sell it. While it's possible to sidle up to folks and ask them if they want to buy something, you won't get many sales. Why should they trust you? More usually, you own or rent a piece of land for a store, or rent some space in a mall or retail area. IIRC, there are a very small number of places offering places to sell from for free, but good luck finding those. Search for 'store rental', 'mall rental', 'retail rental'.
2b) Sell through SLX... its free to set up (they take commission on your sales) and a good way to start out. *tip* As well as your priced articles for sale, put a few freebies on as well. It increases your visibility and get people looking at your priced stuff.
3) Set up your vendors. The simplest way is a single prim for each item sold, with a texture showing what is inside and a clear price. Set the prim to 'contents for sale' and enter a price. Make sure the stuff you are selling has the appropriate permissions set... copy OR trans, not both unless you want people to rip you off.
If you have the physical space and can spare the prims you can set up the actual objects for sale... this is usually done with vehicles that people want to be able to look round before they buy.
You can also get scripted vendors that vary in cleverness & ease of use. These allow you to sell a whole load of products from a single object of five or so prims, rather than using one prim per product.
4) Advertise. Put your store in your picks. Put SLURLs for your store on your SLX pages, and URLs for your SLX stuff in your store. Consider an ad in the Classifieds. DON'T spam groups you are in or the RA forum, although a small ad in your sig seems to be acceptable.
5) Sit back and watch the f4t l00tz roll in... or more likely, not roll in. There are already 1000s of people selling pretty much everything you can think of in SL, and it's tough to break into the market. Like in RL, you need a clever, innovative idea, good advertising and marketting and a visible place to sell from.
NB: The advice on 'Business in a Box' stuff is sound - most people won't touch that stuff with a 0.05x0.05x3m wooden cylinder. And if you don't know what SLX, prims, permissions, Classifieds and Picks are, you don't understand SL enough to start selling.

I'm assuming you are asking for details on what you actually do??????
Once you have made something you would like to sell, you set it for sale using the Edit functions. Right click on your object and select Edit and on the first TAB there are options for setting the object for sale, setting a price and setting the permissions (Modify/copy/transfer) that the purchaser will have on the object.
Sets of items may all be placed in a box for sale together, e.g., sets of clothing.
More complicated vendor systems are available for selling different items from the one vendor. Some of these are specifically designed for selling certain items, e.g., prim hair.
If you are completely new to all this it is best if you learn a lot more about SL before you start - maybe go to some classes and check out tutorials and other web sites.

I don't know if your products are any good, but you just coined a lovely new word: "Forniture". A combination of "furniture" and "fornication", no doubt...and so applicable to SL, where MLP scripted beds, sofas, showers, et. al. are so common! Well done, well done indeed! Yes, you can do exactly that, put your items out on the floor of your purchased property or rented storefront. They will stay there after you log out. Unless someone buys them, of course. In order to have a "display model", the model itself must be your vendor, with the "for sale" version in the Content folder of the object, along with a "sell to anyone" script. /me scampers happily off, chuckling "forniture, forniture" to herself.

From: Jen007 Lemon I created some house forniture. I can buy a piece of land and set items on floor with selling mod in proprieties? Will they remain in floor after logout? Yes - stuff you put out will stay in place when you are gone. If you want to sell it that way, go into edit and set the item for sale. There's a spot to set a price. Also set it to sell a copy of the item, not the original or the contents. Make sure you check the permissions you want it to have - copy, modify, transfer, etc. Like someone has already told you, do not set it for copy and transfer, or you will find your stuff for sale all over the place. People will just buy one copy from you, then make all the copies they want and sell it themselves. I would set furniture for copy/mod/no transfer. That way people can copy it for their own use, modify it if they want to add poseballs or animations, but they can't transfer it to someone else. That's just my opinion, though. Remember, on your property, your prims are limited. So if you have high prim furniture and you start putting out a lot of it, you are going to run into trouble pretty fast, especially if you have a small piece of property. Go to World-About Land-Objects to see how many prims you are allowed to have on your property and how many are already there. If you get tight on prims, use the vendor suggestions here. It's only one prim for a simple box that you place your item in and sell it that way.
