Is it ok to give renters the right to deed objects? Can these objects be used to somehow cause money to be removed from a group?

I have one tenant (and one only), but I want to know if it is safe for me to give them the right to deed objects.

Advice, please :)

llGiveMoney is designed to fail on deeded objects. Debit permission has to be the same as the object's owner, and only avatars can grant permission.

Deeded stuff can accept payments, though, and group members in roles with the liabilities and dividends flag will receive it.

The question is... Why would they need to be able to Deed objects to the group? The only things that would require that would be a radio or TV tuner. Also.. if they deed it to the group, they lose ownership of that item. Unless they are given the rights to manipulate group deeded objects, they would not be able to move them, etc.

All the various "privacy" objects need deeding too. Ownership isn't lost, unless it's no transfer (and SL no longer allows no transfer stuff to be deeded).

Kinda. It however will allow deeding of objects with No-Transfer *Next* Owner Permissions--and once it's deeded, the Group is that next owner. At that point, the object can't even be returned: there's nobody to return it to, except the Group itself.

This problem shouldn't often arise with purchased objects, but self-made items set no-transfer can get eaten by deeding them to group.

There's probably a few I'm missing :o, but if you let individual group members deed things to the group then they can (by means of a proxy script):
- terraform the land (subject to estate override)
- change the media stream
- eject, ban and unban at will and unseat anyone on the parcel

If those are things you're allowing them to do through the group roles already then you're not giving them any new "parcel powers" by allowing them to deed, but if you don't want your tenants to be able to eject anyone at will on any land deeded to the group then you can't grant them the ability to deed objects to the group.

You wouldn't want the "Everyone" role in an open enrollment group to be able to deed though, sooner or later someone is going to realize the griefing potential of that.
