Bah, humbug.  From: someone Required Viewer Update to 1.19.0 on Wednesday, March 12th

After Wednesday, March 12th, the 1.19.0 viewer will be required to access Second Life.
At this time, Residents using older versions of the viewer will be required to download an update when attempting to login. There's more detail on the blog.

I do use his, but it still says 18.5.3 or whatever as the version. I know he removed that code for one release, I'm just not sure whether it was a universal change, applicable to all releases. I guess we'll find out...

Yes, the forced-upgrade code is supposed to be removed. I expect it to be fine. |

Now, Cherry... you didn't really expect them to release a mandatory viewer that actually fixes the things that people have been complaining about, seems like forever, that didn't relate to their "Shiny" or break things that used to work... did you? Silly girl! One can only hope that Nicholaz finds the time to do his magic with this release.

If you've already upgraded, you can still downgrade to 1.18.whatever, and (I presume) stay there until server updates break it. Which could be a long while...

Good news. Nicholaz posted to his blog that he believes that BE-v should continue to work fine after the mandatory update. http://nicholaz-beresford.blogspot.com/The not so good news is that he is not releasing a Nicholaz'd version of 1.19 in the foreseeable future unless absolutely necessary. |

Keep in mind, there is another "nicholaz" type viewer out there.. Cool Sl viewer by Henri Beauchamp... including a number of the fixes people have been asking for, and a "pretty much the same as nicholaz" patch for the "Communicate" window. It also adds in the latest "Restrained Life" code as well (it's something you can turn on or off.. and it's "off" by default). Unlike the Nicholaz Viewer.. Cool Sl is still being developed.
