My daughter bought me a brand new computer yesterday. I hooked it all up and everything runs smoothly, no problems. When I try to log onto SL however, everything rez's up pretty well, I can hear the sounds, force the sun, look in my inventory and all, but I cannot make my av move at all, I can spin her around but I cannot get her to walk, fly or anything. I'm assuming it must be the video card. Everything else is a big improvement over my 2 yr old laptop which I have run SL on with no problems at all. Here are the specs, can anyone tell me that it actually IS the video card before I run out QUIETLY to get another one?
Windows Vista 3G Memory 400 GB Hard Drive Processor:AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Video card: NVIDIA Ge Force 6150SE Intergrated

sounds to me like it might a problem with your router((or whatever hooks you up to the internet)) ?..I dont know..if you can plug in and see everything..and your avatar isn't able to move that tells me that the SL world isn't recognising that your avatar is there. Can you im people? Are you able to teleport out? Can you sit on an object? ~Lana Tomba

Hmmm, I havent tried to IM anyone and I know I wont be able to sit on anything. I havent tried to TP either. I will try both of those. After I couldnt do anything, I turned on my laptop and went in just fine tho, if it were my router, wouldnt I have the same problem with the laptop?

well as far as I know they say anything..6200 Nividia and above works with SL? It could be your video card. Even though its integrated look for updates to the drivers and see if that changes anything..but by the time you buy a Vid card now adays theres usually a new update for it by the time you get home.
I don't know how routers work and ISPs and identification and all that but if you can comunicate with someone...that means you're connecting to SL.not just SL connecting to you.

Lana might be right in that the minimum Nvidia card that SL claims to run with is a 6200. Here's the link to the system requirements: http://secondlife.com/corporate/sysreqs.phpHas anyone else had any experience with the 6150?

I have actually tried playing SL with the 6150. The 6150 is a VERY minimal integrated chipset. Its good for a general purpose computer, but its not very good for SL. If the motherboard has a PCI Express slot, it would be best to get an actual video card.

Thanks for the help everyone. I'm really thinking it is the card, I'll have to go out and get another one tomorrow.
