so the question is they say you can own a 512 plot and pay no tiers but where can a guy find a 512 thats for sale ive checked the slx and the land store. and all i come up with are landrentals and expensive 512 with tier. where are the mystry 512 plots in sl? can anyone tell me or give me a hint?

There's a land for sale tab in the in-world search. You can set it to only show you mainland land, and sort it by size. That should put the 512 plots close to the top. The Land Store is just for new private sims. You will probably have to look at several places to find one that you like.

It's theoretically possible to pick up a 512 at auction, too, although they're *rarely* bargains. From http://usd.auctions.secondlife.com/ choose "L$ Land Auctions."

And the in-world search land tab has a dropdown on the left. Make the top one For Sale - Mainland, and the bottom whichever you prefer (PG or Mature or both).

In the Area >= sq.m input box, put 512, then hit search.

Click the L$ Price bracket thingy just above the list until there is a ^ arrow next to it.

All of the listed parcels are for sale on mainland, which means you get the tier-free-ness for being premium. They are also organized by price now, with more expensive being lower.

It will also only show parcels 512m or larger, but all of the cheapest will be 512m, so that shouldn't be a problem.

As Argos and Keira said, the best way to find 512 plots on the mainland is to use the in world land for search tab. Also, if there are sims you like, you can bring up the sim name on the world map, check the "land for sale" option (a little dollar sign on a yellow background) and search that way also.

I HIGHLY recommend taking NCI's class on landownership. It is held fairly regularly and gives GREAT info and tips. (I took it before purchasing my own 512 land recently.) Check under Events ->Education, then type in NCI in the blank at the top to find when the class is held.

Just be patient and keep looking around. It can take a long time to find the right parcel with a lot of tp'ing around to really awful parcels.

Just also be aware you may find 512m a little small or low on prims and rarer to find, 1024m is pretty common but will cost you another $5 per month, unless you form a partnership group with another premium. Or you could form the group with another premium, buy a 512m and split it into 2 plots.
The 512m you buy today may just be your first stepping stone. 512m is enough for many residents, you can use sculpties and good texturing to reduce prim counts too, other wise you might find a problem trying to put a 100prim sofa in your 30 prim house on a 117 prim 512m plot

You can do a lot with a 512m lot, just have to learn to pay attention to prim counts a lot.

Congrats on premium...you can also just use the map, mark it on the right to show land for sale...look for anything small and yellow. There are alot out there actually. Find a sim you like and use the map. Have fun!

The very first place I lived in SL was a rented studio apartment (I think it had 128 prims). Even with not knowing much about prims and how to make good use of them I furnished it so it looked really nice...had company over....and didn't even use all the prims.

I was looking for buildings for my shop for my new 512 and it was amazing to see one prefab with 36 prims and another just, if not more, detailed using only 19 prims. As the designer of the second one said - "It's all about the maths and the textures."

indeed... I've seen prefabs stating : "fits on a 512m size lot" but with half a sim's worth of prims in the construction

Luxury!! All we had was rusty staple on a 16m raodside ad plot. you new prems don't know how lucky you are!!

Yeah well I hear there are people now living on 16m plots in temp rez apartment blocks, timing use of the bathroom is damn critical.

I did the exact same thing this past Saturday, except, I found the land first and went premium just to buy it. I haven't used anything pre-fab yet. I made a little shop out of 12 prims without resorting to alpha texture walls. And I'm part of a continuing landscape build with the other parcel owners around me. (^_^)

So far, with the mess I made I'm only using half of the 117 prims I have allowed. And that includes some trees and filler for a panhandle my parcel has since it was made from combined adfarm plots. (=_=)

I guess this week has been the week to become a premi-noob. (^_^)y

Hi Sylar! Just sent you am IM in-world with a LM to my 512 parcel that's for sale. I build a unique house that uses the land well and only takes up 4 prims! That's important, since 512 land only allows 117 prims total.
