Combat System

Hi, i didn't know what forum to post this in as it could come under alot of subsections, so its going here.

I am looking for someone to program us a custom made combat system (please don't run off)

We have all of the plans/graphics etc done ready and i have experience with coding combat systems in another programing language (BASIC) and have coded a few. we do NOT want a dynamic combat system, it is a fixed combat system, preferably with 4 (give or take) fixed races, and a none intrusive HUD system.

We (Me and Jared) would accept a heavily modified combat system (10k for the modification), we would make our own weapons most of wich would be melee (bar stools, iron bars etc) but would have 2 or 3 guns (no explosives, just pistol, sawn off shot gun and home-made)

The Combat system would have NO powers but have a basic XP and health system, and once someone hits a certian level of XP, there attack strength increases and they are soon able to fight with a weapon in each hand.

Does that mean you would spend 10,000L for the modification?- good luck with that, as you might get at most 1 or 2 hours of work for that - and what you have in mind are lots of hours, if not days or weeks, depending on what you want. But to me that sounds not like something done in an instant.

Please see this not as an insult but as a hint to give you an idea why nobody responded to your request.

I'd suggest posting in the scripting forum, maybe not quoting the offered price, just give what you want done, and let people come to you with what the job would cost, and you can weigh offers, maybe even solicit bids. I don't know what the job entails, but 10K is around $37 USD, I don't know if that is a realistic offer.

Actually, posts like this are strongly discouraged in Scripting Tips, where they're usually directed to "Products Wanted" (or whatever it's called), or just ignored. (Well, the L$10K offer would be derided first, then ignored. ) Although honestly I'm puzzled why anyone would want yet another combat system HUD to juggle. (But what do I know? One combat system is one too many, as far as I'm concerned.)

having said this before in another post on the same subject, by the same OP...

you are better off using one of the available systems... CoLa and DCS come to mind...

now if you start offering a real payment schedule, I know someone willing to build and host a system including persistent user data etc.... hosting would be the point, as it'd be an ongoing fee... but I doubt 40$US is gonna cover much

I suggest to use the ones that are in the market, for example CSS that is well accepted.
If you want someone to make your own combat system you will have to spend more than 10K, because you will need someone that makes constant development and support, therefore it will need a periodic income or a profit of sales of whatever you want to sell...if you want your own combat system you would have to develop your own weapons.

At the risk of beating this subject into the ground, you should consider an off-the-shelf system or think about spending seriously more L$.

Reality check. As a junior programmer grinding out pretty standard COBOL, I was paid £10/US$20 an hour. Salaried. Freelancers often want a lot more. Games designers (which is what you're asking for, really) might triple that figure, and more. The L$ you are offering wouldn't get you through the first meeting, let alone a complete system.

You might just find some talented SOB who'll do it as a labour of love. They exist, but good luck with that.
