Does anyone know where I may find a Photographer's HUD for taking photos in SL. I have search for weeks and have found nothing. Also a good model positioning HUD would be helpful as well. Please help.

I'm not sure I understand...what exactly are you wanting this HUD to do? There's one called HUDdy Buddy which adds various frames. As far as I know though, people generally just use the built in Snapshot function and do some post-production to perfect their pics.
Pose stands are most often used when photographing models, although something like a HUDDLES HUD will also hold playable animations and poses. In that case, though, the model needs to own the HUD. _____________________

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things. Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut. |

I think it's just not terribly clear what a Photographer's HUD would do, exactly. There are modeling devices available for photographers (just search in-world or one of the online sites), but they mostly change textures, poses, and lighting effects. If that's kinda what's desired, a post to the Products Wanted forum might provide more info.
I can also imagine the photographer having control of the exact position of the models, once they've been given a pose. The user interface for such a thing seems pretty daunting, though, especially for multiple-model shoots. (Maybe a set of "proxy poseballs" that actually adjust by llSetLinkPrimitiveParams the offets and relative rotations of the models from the llSitTargets built into the real poseballs. Hmmm...) The point is that a HUD can do only so much for a photographer. It can't take a photo, for example. And with WindLight, the lighting conditions available to photographers in the viewer so exceed anything a script can do, it may make such scripts completely obsolete. |

Adriana Caligari's "Cali Cam" is the one I consider getting:
http://slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=70536 I might get it someday, but to be honest I don't really feel the need for it at this point. I find I prefer the flexibility of just doing the snapshots by hand using the built-in SL client abilities. I suppose the saved camera positions would be the most useful aspect of it, but that only matters if you need the exact same angle for multiple sessions, or need to move your camera around between shots for some reason. Maybe you could tell us what functions you are looking for. I know Ann is a terrific photographer, and although not terribly talented myself, I do have a few tricks up my sleeve. ![]() |

Agreed ... we need more information about what you want the HUD to do. Personally, I don't like the HUD that puts a frame or effect on the image for your snapshots. I simply save my snapshots to disk and post-process with Photoshop.
I have the N30 Deluxe Modeling Studio which has a lot of backgrounds and an excellent pose stand loaded with a large selection of poses. I have added my own backgrounds to the studio, and added a lot of great poses into the stand. The studio also has a lot of in-world effects that you can apply, such as fire, snow, stars, fog, lighting, etc ... |

Thank you for the advice and url. I did some experiementing last night and found I really do like the flexibility of the built in "camera"/snapshot feature.
I will be doing more experiementing with the Pose balls and photography stands soon. Perhaps I will even try one of the studios and see how far I can get with it. Thanks again for all the ideas and help. - Christoff Wrigglesworth |
