hello my fellow friends well i have been warned about this gift giving ao called life shop ao . and i was at ivory towers and i was afk and when i returned to keyboard i had a blue thingy at the top saying so and so offered u a gift called life shop ao. well i obviously didnt except it but my question is.. is this person deliberatly sending these out??? or do they not know there av is sending these out? cause if they are doing it on purpose u would think it would be easy to kick them off of sl... i wrote the persons name down before i clicked dont except item.and im just wondering if the ppl that are giving out the life shop ao are aware that they are giving it out or are they infected and not knowing that they are sending it to ppl hope u understand what im trying to say . kinda like a email virus thing where u are sending it out to everyone in your address book and not aware of it.

I believe that the thing auto-gives itself to anyone within chat distance when it is worn. I was offered one by someone in a store and I questioned the person it came from and she did not know it was happening.

Yeah, the spamming scripts were dropped into what otherwise looks like a perfectly ordinary AO HUD. The wearers will have no idea about the spamming until someone tells them. Probably best is just to let the wearer know that this Life Shop AO is bugged to send out spam, and it might be time to ditch it and find one that won't get them into trouble.

I asked in Live Chat about this and the AO was perfectly safe..... is best to get official input when rumors come out.

This one is pretty easy, don't rez or wear objects handed out willy nilly like that =) LSL makes it really, really hard for anything like a real virus to work, you don't really have to worry much that your existing attachments could get infected or anything like that.

yes i wont except anything like that even if the warning wasnt issued.. i find it strange when a stranger just up and offers me something expecially free but if one was to suspect they have it. could u just go in inventory and type worn in the top to see it? or how would u find it if u did have it on ?

Yep. (worn in the inventory window, or Detach Object from the Edit menu, would show it.
Attachments don't have a way to glom onto your avatar without your permission. You can only wear an object that you own, and either you have to wear it from inventory, or say OK to a dialog box if the object is rezzed in world.
There are following objects that can chase your avatar around, but those kinds of things will still show someone else as the owner.

Ya, been sent a bajillion of 'em it seems like - all deleted. Most say they're coming from an object called "Load" owned by (name of hapless person who attached it). Makes me wonder - Anyone gone to the "Life Shop" to see what the hubbub is about?

Safe?
05-07-2009 08:30
Hey all.. Just wanted to say that just because something is "safe" doesn't mean it isn't annoying.
I think LL mean that it won't steal your inventory, crash your sim or blow up your neighbors car and eat all your left over Easter candy. It may be annoying and spammy, but that isn't "dangerous".. which is what they were letting us know.

Yep mine said the exact same this as this From: Marianne McCann coming from an object called "Load" owned by (name of hapless person who attached it).
I decline anything that is coming from an object and called load.

Yep, because the spam scripts were dumped into the load button prim of a old square-button ZHAO. From: someone Makes me wonder - Anyone gone to the "Life Shop" to see what the hubbub is about? It's just some gadget shop. The AO is still out for the taking, but it's now been neutered. Contents are the BIAB/freebie animations that have been in circulation forever.
