I need a bed!

OK, so, back when I first rented my awesome house, I wanted to furnish it with ancient-Egyptian looking stuff. So I did; I found a nice living room set, and placed it. I didn't find any Egyptian bedroom sets that I liked, so I gave up and just found a very nice bedroom set, and bought it.

Well, as time has gone on, I've noticed that my house is, well, kinda bare. It's furnished, fine; but I've been to other peoples' houses, and it just occurs to me how much "stuff" other people are able to put in their (even rental, fixed-prim) houses, and it makes my house just look desolate. So, I want to add stuff. But I can't, cuz I don't have a lot of prims left. I began to look at some of the stuff that was using up all the space.

For example, I had a desk chair, which I picked solely for looks, that I found out was like 39 prims. I got rid of it. My nice Egyptian living room gots to go. A nice hammock I had on my deck had to go too - for now at least. And, there's my bed.

The bedroom set looks just awesome. It's a nice kinda wicker/beechwood/canvas kinda motif, I think it's called "Tropical Breeze" or something like that (I can't get in-world till tonight so I don't know for sure). The bed (which is PG, tyvm) has two sleep poses and a laying-in-bed-reading pose that rocks. But, the bed is too primmy! It has to go.

Getting a living room set will be fine. But for kids, buying beds is difficult. All the "kid beds" they've got out there are designed for avs a bit younger than me. And all the normal beds out there...well, they've got their own set of problems. I've seen some nice very-low-prim beds that certainly look just fine, but they tend to have names like "Ultimate OrgyBed 2000" and have poses named after various zoo animals; and you know, I just can't bring myself to plant one of those in my house. I mean, what would the neighbors think (after they AR'd me)? Not to mention the risk of logging in one day and seeing strangers in my house doing something that will scar me for (second) life.

So, where can I go to find low-prim, PG, -nice- looking furniture? Of all kinds? Any suggestions are appreciated. If I can get my house in decent shape, I might think about having like a party or something.

Thoughts?

Hi kid,
How about having someone customize something for you? Marcel specializes in low-prim stuff, for example, and some of his stuff has sort of the look you describe.
By having something made or altered, you can make sure that it has the poses you need.

B.

Ok, that _was_ Prim Pincher where I saw that. She makes some nice sculpty 7-prim beds with PG poses. I don't know if they might be more modern than you're looking for, but one model has 2 light tones that might go with your wicker, and they're modify.

Though I am not very fond of pushing my shop in the RA forum (except for my banner LOL), try taking a look at my store, just to get a general idea how low prim things can get. If you do have idea's of your own, or real life pics, I can create from the scratch as well. As long as you do not want unique rights, the price would not be higher, since I can sell it to more then just one person in that case :-) And if it is something I cannot create, I am pretty sure I know people who can.

That is a tip to anyone in fact who is on the look for a design they cannot find: Just IM the store owner with your ideas. Many store owners might be just happy with a new idea for in their shop, and make it for you. Lately I did a dinnerset that way, and it is a success in my shop as well. So if I am happy with customers with their own idea's, there must be more people.

And final: there are great sleeping animations available as well. My sculpted beds with sleeping animation sell better then the beds with adult poses ;)

This may seem obvious, but have you checked SLX? THey have bunk beds and some cool stuff.....

I really like shopping that way because it is no lag and it is categorized.

I made a the same mistake on my first plot of 512,I popped out and bought a big so called stereo,I didn't check out the prims and when I got home and tried to rez it I got the parcel full message. So I went to a sand box to rez it and it was 82 prim ,what use is that on a 117 prim unit.No transfer item it has stayed in my inventory ever since..Never buy anything without checking prims. back on thread get someone to make wall textures that have pictures and stuff built in, save huge amounts of prims and makes a place seem full .

Thanks for the ideas guys.

Marcel, that sounds like an excellent idea. Today when I get in-world, I'll take some photos of my other bedroom furniture, and you can see what you can do as far as a bed goes. Maybe you could even just use a bed you've already got, with some different textures. Or maybe not - that's all up to you. I don't want any exclusive rights - you can sell whatever you make to anyone. But I'll pay extra if you name it after me. Like "The Dakota Edition" or something. That'd rock.

Colette, I've done some looking on SLX, but it's really no different from normal shopping. Lotsa beds are adult-themed. There are some PG ones, but you gotta look and look and look to find them (typing "PG" in as one of the search terms doesn't really do anything, most of the beds that turn up are still sexbeds), they are expensive and often primmy. One vendor was selling a PG version of a normally adult-themed bed they sell, but the PG version was like L200 more! ??? And most places list the prim count of their items, but not all.

Blot, the pictures-included wall texture sounds very clever, but I can't do it here. I don't just rent a plot; the house and all its gizmos came with it, and I can't edit them. Sure, I can do some customizing - for instance, the second floor was just a big open space, and I set up some walls to make a bedroom. But making prims to cover all the walls? Nah. 1-prim pictures aren't horrible; I've got a few of them.

Keep the ideas coming guys!

Check out Lok's Low Prim Furniture, I think you will find what you need. Some of my beds do come with sex animations etc., but the vast majority of them are single or couples pose beds with matching items.. since everything is low prim you can decorate a little more while still making the space look nice. :)

Just IM me in world if you want something customized.

Hi :)

I have a very nice medieval bed with golden bedspread that's only 7 prims. And it's modify, so the sex menu can be removed and replaced with sleeping pose? That can be an option? No menu = no problem. I'm sure you can IM the seller of a bed you like and ask for a version without the sex menu, if you don't dare to try to remove it yourself. Some shops sell beds without menus too...

I like to fill my home with stuff. Less is boring, I'd say! So I found candles that's only 1 prim, even if it's ornate, detailed tall ones. That's a really prim saver and I love to place them out. Same with torches. Most free torches for garden is 4-5 prims. I found 1 prim torches. I'm sure that my candles and torches saves me over 20 prims.

I can find the designer of the candles when I'm inworld, but the torches is from SLX. http://www.slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=201270
