is this legal?..can I get in trouble? this is a GIMP icon that i downloaded with one of their packs and i use the GIMP all the time so I thunk it appropriate..just didn't want to break any rules.I can change it if its wrong.

I think GIMP is as likely to chase you down as Warner Brothers is as likely to get on my case for using Pepe Le Pew. Neither of us is making money of using them for avatars so I doubt it's any big deal.
Besides, as you said, you do it because you use the program. Who could ask for better advertising than that?
