Can someone tell me which debug setting i need to change, to change the color of my text in the file, edit etc. menu. Currently the text and back ground colors are both black, the only way i can view them is to hover over it or highlight them, this makes it difficult to see. Can someone please help me, Thanx~~Bri

Chat text, or bubble chat text? Because you can edit both in the Prefernces.
I don't know of any other way to edit those colors. Doesn't mean there isn't one, but I've always jsut used Prefs.
You may have a glitch with your Client. If someone doesn't pull and easter egg help answer here soon, I'd suggest filing a Support Ticket.

You can change the colours in the program file, app_settings.

Thanx Osprey, Im sure this will work, but i have no idea which one to change, I tried a few different ones with no luck. I dont really want to mess with it much, my knowledge is null!! If you can point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it! Thanx Bri

Open "colors" in notepad. You can add lines copied from "colors_base" and then alter the color values. Don't alter colors_base itself, however.
colors say:
version 101 // colors.ini // Use this file to provide your own custom colors for the // Second Life user interface. // // Copy lines here from colors_base.ini and modify them // to your heart's content. // // The colors are in the format: <red> <green> <blue> <alpha> // 0 0 0 255 = black, fully opaque // 255 255 255 255 = white, fully opaque // 0 0 0 128 = black, half transparent // // The file version must appear before any comments. // Comments must start at the beginning of a line. // Set tab stops to 4 for best alignment. // // Example: // Make avatar names bright green: // AvatarNameColor 0 255 0 255

So obviously I didnt change the correct line. Im making myself crazy with this and probably you too But I do appreciate your help

Don't alter colors_base - just copy the line over to colors. I haven't played with this since it was first given to us, but let me see if I can change something.
What are you aiming for?

Ha ha! I made it very horrible-looking! So yes - it still works fine. Just experiment a bit.

From: Osprey Therian I don't really get this - the text is white on black with dark greyed-out nonapplicables - is your monitor configured correctloy, or have you been fiddling with gamma in Preferences? The monitor is fine and no fiddling. This happened after one of the updates that changed the text colors and shadowing on buttons. To me they are a bit blury, i can deal with that, used to it now. But like I said when sl updated all the text and background in my file, edit etc menu are both black or a dark grey color, nonapplicables are white, at least on mine, the opposite of others, which only happened after that update, before that they were fine. So Im assuming this was due to the update and is quite annoying when I need to use that menu, i have to hover over the line so it will be highlighted which takes about 5 to 10 secs for each line. SOme I know exactly where to go, simply because I have used them before but others i have to highlight line by line until i find what i want.

What version are you using? Maybe try the Release Candidate and/or the Nicholaz viewer. Is it just the text or is anything else odd?

I tried the release candidate, didnt work, the Nicholaz viewer couldnt find it nor do I know what it is lol. Im using the most recent version 1.18.2.0. Maybe it has something to do with my browser, IE7, not really sure.
