Having lived in SF for 7 years, I am now back in Boston, with out a doubt it is the better city. IMHO

I would warmly welcome the lindens with Gifts of Pie and Cake if they ever moved their HQ to Boston.

As for gambling? err.....its not legal unless there going to run a charity Bingo.

GENERAL LAWS OF MASSACHUSETTS
CHAPTER 271. CRIMES AGAINST PUBLIC POLICY.

and the link for those who like to read this sort of things

And fedral law also still applies even though we are a commonwealth ;)

Actually i think the US CC restrictions are on gambling WORLDWIDE over the net.

Hence Antigua being annoyed with us.

LL already has a Boston office, so that could be what you are hearing about.

No not really.

Federal law covers the internet gambling question and would require a nationwide law change. Local laws cover gambling in general, and they require change at those levels.

Federal Law (all the US)
State Law (Individual states- 50 of them)
County Law (Individual counties- hundreds in each state I think it might even be called district? I'm sleepy, sorry)
City Law (Cities- dozens in most counties)

I may be missing a level or two- and I'm not sure about county law to be honest, but that's a VERY basic run down for non-US folks. The higher up you go, the more difficult it is to change generally... and a higher law always trumps a local law. Federal law is the law that was questionable enough for SL to shut down gambling. The local laws really don't matter.

What im saying is it wouldnt matter WHERE LL moved SL to.

They still would have to ban gambling.

Or else not accept US credit cards as a payment method.

They could move to the dam International Space Station and as long as they wanted US CC payments theyd have to ban gambling.
