When I was young, nights and days were not like that

What have become to the world?
Somehow, I was sleeping for months.
And now that I wake up, world have change.
Night used to be during 1 hour, and day 3 hours, as far as I remember.
Well maybe this is still the case.
But what have surely change, is that in my good old time, when it was night somewhere,
all you had to do was to teleport somewhere else, and day would probably there.
Now, it has been night, and I have been teleporting every here and there.
But night were everywhere!
How so? Days and night are everywhere at the same time now?
From when? Why?
On what can we thrust, if we cannot even thrust days and nights to be stable?

As long as I've been in-world, it's worked the same way on the Mainland, whereas private sims can be set as desired (so maybe there was an "all day all the time" island you used to visit at night?)

What bothers me is that the moon is always full. Fitting perhaps, given the lunacy and occasional werewolves, but it really messes up Lunar New Year (which is now, by the way).

Um Thrusting? I didn't know it required stability just animations;)
I have been places I set the sim for daylight went somewhere and it was night just recently.
You can change the time of day to whatever you choose. I often do if I want it midnight or noon forever I can do that. I think even sim owners if they choose to do so can keep it at certain time of day if I remember correctly but uncertain about that.

I can't understand the OP's post enough to know if it's applicable to RA or not.

Hi Davidius - we're trying to work out your question here. Are you asking if day and night in SL has changed with the latest upgrades?

I don't even know what RA or GD is.

Well, I have not been in SL (this abreviation I guess everyone knows) for more than 6 months.
And I really remember that night and days were not everywhere at the same time.
Was wondering since when. Quite surprising for me to come back to SL and found that this have changed... and so was wondering from when, and why.

From my experience, all maiinland sims are on the same day/night timetable.

But, private islands can set their own, if I recall correctly.

It hasn't changed for me. It still the same it was six months ago though the moon is bigger.
I personally thought SL days were 4 hours long but I wouldn't know I always change the time of day to what I want it to be.

yeah, I use to adjust sun and moon to my desires, but was in a feeling to follow time.
I remember a museum of SL, with lots a notes about things, like hypopo, etc.
One of them was describing the length of night versus days, and how it was changed along the grid.
I should fine it back to prove my point that it was not always this way.

Edit1:
Well I have found a note at: SL Historical Museum, Phobos (236, 165, 33)
* A day in Second Life is 4 hours long, with 3 hours of daytime and 1 hour of night. Many other quirks of the sun and moon: The sun orbits the SL world and travels faster during night, the moon is always full, there will not be an eclipse for many many Earth years, a year in SL is 10 days long. For more detailed information see LSL Wiki: llGetSunDirection: http://secondlife.com/badgeo/wakka.php?wakka=llGetSunDirection

* The Sun and Moon are often given custom textures for U.S. Holidays. Examples of such are the sun being replaced with a heart and the moon with a silhouette of a couple kissing for Valentine's Day.

But this does not show my point.

I mentioned this to the Windlight folks during their office hours today, and the idea of moon phases interested them -- but, of course, there are bigger issues on the burner right now.

This has largely been discontinued: the last time this was done was for MLK day in 2007 and, propr to that, the "million member" sun and moon during October 2006. I doubt it is going to happen again in the future.

You know, this REALLY puts a damper on my lepidanthropy. I'm only supposed to turn into a butterfly when the moon is full. . .

Yes, I've noticed that too. It almost seems as if LL can't be bothered anymore. Of course you can force whatever time of day you like, but that wasn't the question.

BTW, Davidius, take no notice of some of the comments - your question was perfectly clear. :)

Davidius, I meant no disrespect by my earlier post, but I honestly thought you were just trying to be poetic. Apparently it was clear to Sun, but I apologize it was not to me. Your second post was very clear. Thank you.
