I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this question, but is there a way or a device that allows you to know when someone looks at your profile?
Just curious

In the Client menu (which I've forgotten how to make appear) you can click on Character> Show Look At and Character>Show Point At. You will see cross hairs in front of other avatars, and your own too. If cross hairs not your own move to your avatar, someone is zooming in on you. If they turn red, I think, someone has clicked on you. It's usually just by accident that you can catch it since you're usually looking at other things than yourself I would think. And there are ways around it.

[Edit] And of course there other ways of looking at a profile than clicking on someone.

I can tell when they have read mine because they usually burst out with statements like "You know that's illegal in most states don't you?!!" Or "Where do you Buy the Equipment?".

Why not simply assume that everyone you meet looks at your profile? That's what it's there for!

Your profile is supposed to be there for you to tell others everything you WANT them to know about you...your likes, dislikes, social status, favorite groups and places...

One of the first things I do when I meet someone is check their profile. It's a good clue as to whether we're likely to get along or not.

would be cool if there was a count somewhere that would show how many times your profile was viewed

not who viewed it, but maybe a counter in the profile tab somewhere

like..

Profile viewed xx

I suppose a person could make something that could tell when their Web Tab url has been looked at.

I have one last line in my profile that says "Call me ****[not telling you here]**** so that I know you've read my profile."

The name is a shorter version of my SL first name that just sounds cuter.

People who call me Imo, Imno, or Imnot have not read my profile. People are usually nice enough to call me ****[not telling you here]**** if they're nice enough to read my profile. (^_^)y

Sometimes I swear the Avis know things they don't tell us.

Like, I think they KNOW when someone is remotely looking at them.

I have had the experience of disabling the camera constaints and zooming in on someone far away and behind walls (hardly ever - honest) and had them suddenly do something that made it seem as if they knew I was watching them. I'm pretty sure they really had no idea but it made me jump.

Nah, it's a meaningless number. Bad statistics shouldn't be encouraged. People already game other meaningless statistics, like traffic.

Yes, they could well have had Show Look At on (client > character). I've been trying stuff on in my place with hardly anyone on the sim when suddenly that little green cross appears on me. Time to put the underwear away and look through some of those thick woolly jumpers.
