To celebrate my RL husband's joining me in SL as my Elvin hubby we bought an AKK horse with a double saddle.

So where are your favorite places to ride in SL?

Start out at Antilia (part of the AzureIslands) Zoom back on the map and you will see the whole area has cobblestone roadway throughout multiple sims . . . some are waterfront, some tree-lined . . . it's a beautiful area to ride through. I love riding out there. :D

Thanks Darion. Found Hoof It a while ago when I was renting. Great place for newbies like me.

Kylie,

That sounds really cool, can't wait to check it out. :)

And while roaming the island, check out the volcano. Should be obvious on the map, toward the eastern 1/3rd. Could be a challenge with the double rider (vehicle) though.

A lovely Victorian one runs along the ridge line from Caledon Eyre to Caledon Penzance. From the landing point (former Telehub) in Caledon Eyre, go along the street until you reach the park at the south end of the sim, then cross the stream to the east (there's a sign). Yes, that's the sim my stables are in (and there's demos at the shop if you need a horse), but I can't claim any credit for the trail which was entirely Desmond Shang's doing.

Hi Virrginia and Ty,

The volcano shouldn't be a problem. :D

Caledon is one of my favorite areas in SL, you'll be seeing us along that trail.

Thanks to you both. :)

This isn't really a horse place but it works....Bliss Gardens has a section of wonderful wooden planks set out in trail form and you can ride around in there for hours and plus I like the sound of my horse's hooves on the wooden trails. Massive amounts of trails plus waterfalls and such.

On a side note does anyone know if there are any horse riding groups that get together?

Isabela,

Thanks for the tip. Definitely join Ruby Vandyke's Horse Event Group. She keeps you up to date on all kinds of events including trail rides and Rodeo events.

My favorite hangout is Fiddler's Saloon. A great bunch of people I met at the Salt Creek Rodeo last week. (I came in second in the bull riding event! Beginners luck. LOL)

There are three Salt Creek regions, Salt Creek 1, 2 and 3. There's a racing trail and you can practice most Rodeo events there.

See ya on the trails. :)

Hearttau,

Thank you for that group info. I will have to join when I log in this evening. I am really an English rider though, specifically jumpers, in RL but I do ride western occasionally in RL too - but in SL I ride bareback everywhere so I guess it really doesn't matter lol and would love to come watch some rodeos and maybe even compete in one.. may have to cross train my horses first..lol.. :D

I am very happy to find horse people in SL!

I understand, I learned to ride with an English saddle. Still have my helmet and rider's crop from college. Competed in equestrian events way back when, and yes, my favorite was the jump course.

Serenite is a wonderful place to ride, lots of forests, a secret cave, and a grotto, as well as a castle to explore. I love it there :D

My favorite place to ride is around the perimeter of the Dive World sims, nice variation of terrains in some spots not just beach.

Thanks for the tip. :) Know what's even more fun? Riding your horse on the reef bottom.

Don't damage the reef though, stay on the sand. ;)

Now I need a giant seahorse. Aqua Man, where are you?

Okay I joined Ruby's group and checked out a few of the places. Didn't meet too many horse people however I did meet a male furry who asked if my horse was mountable (and he didn't mean getting in the saddle if you catch my drift) and wondered if I knew where to get male horse parts. O.O. Where are all the gentlemen? I am resigned to believe I am not going to meet a normal horse guy or any normal guy for that matter lol. Well at least there are plenty of places to ride my horses around!

Isabela,

Go to the Salt Creek Rodeo or the next organized trail ride. You'll meet nice horse people.

(Yes some look like horses but hey, this is second life.)

I'm a nice horse girl and you met me. Albeit in these forums. ;)
