Statistics Translations?

Another thread about the statistics bar got me wondering. While I know sort of what I'm looking at when I open the statistics bar.....I'm really not that techno-savy. So....is there anyone out there who can give a line by line explanation of what each statistics number means....and what we should be looking for when lagging.

I've noticed more and more frequently I'm going into areas I used to have no problems with....and getting hung up......freezing and losing distant prims from view that were there moments ago. My pc is pretty amped up with tons of memory and my internet connection is uber fast......graphics card nVidia geforce7600...drivers updated. I have always always had a smooth running SL so when things get broky I really want to be able to understand exactly what's going on.

So....I'd really love to have a break down of the statistics #s and meanings....if anyone out there is a bonafied techie.... I'd love to have something I can copy and paste into a notecard for later reference when I'm checking things. Also I'm a mentor and it would help a lot to be able to explain more of that stuff to folks with problems.

I don't always think about going to the SL wiki, I don't know why. I've never been too sure about the statistic bar myself.

Perfect, thanks! I seem to have wiki aversion too... I don't know why.....I know there's a lot of good info there....if just seems like it's over catagorized and weeding thru the links to get to info I actually want always seemed too annoying. But....of course, you found exactly what I needed LOL Perhaps I need to re-familiarize myself with good ole wiki.
