OK, there is a place I regularly go in world where every time I cross the threshold I get a group invitation. It has a "Group Joiner" object that sends invitations to anyone who enters. Thing is though, I'm already a freakin member of the group! Sometimes it sends invitations to my email as well when I'm not online...It's really annoying. Has anyone else come across this?

Hi Larissa, I've come across these, contacted the owner and they sorted it out. Not sure how, but it worked I'm not a fan of automated greeters to begin with, but when they hand you gorup invites, notecards and landmarks every time you arrive, it gets pretty annoying. Good luck! .

Yeah.. I keep meaning to IM the owner as it is really annoying now. I wonder if I could find the object and mute it, whether that would stop it from inviting me over and over.

i was part of desgining a club a few month back and we had a something at the door that my partner had put down at the door to do that same exact thing..i asked..is this going to only invite them one time? she said no it will invite them everytime they cross.. i said we need a sign this is going to piss them off more than get people to join..so we put up a sign which worked great..
i think too many people look to do it the easy way by using tricks instead of earning it .. if i can't get my customers there by them wanting to be there then i don't have what they want..i am sure not going to pester them to the point of irritating them so they will never step into one of my places again. people are won over by creativity not tricks and gimmicks.

In some places you receive one notice after another when you enter the place. This in itself is very annoying as is the robot that floats in the air follwing you around the shops.

QFT! Same with going to a club and getting sent an invite to the group just by showing up. I have no problem with periodic announcements from managers, etc. asking if anyone would like to join the group to let them know, but I detest with a passion "blind invitations."

So many places give you these "greetings" over and over and I just reject automatically. I guess one day I will delete something important without reading it. Love, June

Update: I was at another club today, a LONG way from the club I'm talking about here, and I got a notice from the group, then a few mins later I saw green text on my screen Group Joiner: Requesting an invitation to the group.... followed by a group invite... I have noticed that I also sometimes get invites when I'm offline as well. I think it's actually linked somehow to group notices. I have IMed the group owner and let him know. I asked someone else in the group if they have the same issue and they said no. So I just don't know, but it is getting really spammy now!
