Hello … This is my first post and I hope you all can help me. A couple of months ago I had to reinstall Windows on my pc. Since that time, each time I change clothes, the area that the clothes are supposed to cover begins to flash with what seems to be every texture in my inventory and also every texture that surrounds me. Sometimes it takes 3 minutes for everything to settle down (I’ve timed it) and I can finally see the clothes. This is really frustrating. Also, each time someone around me changes clothes I see their avs flashing. I have the original graphics card that came with my computer and before the reinstall I had no problems at all with getting dressed.
Help!
Thank you very much

Hi Lia, I see the same thing. Usually it is on the top half of my body. I think it is an SL thing not Windows. I don't see flashing just grey when others change. Have you tried clearing your cache?

Hi Lia! Welcome to the forums! I've never seen this flashing you describe (3 min!). The grey, yes, but only briefly. Have you tried reinstalling SL after reinstalling Windows?

Welcome to the forums, Lia! This is a strange issue ... only clothes flash, you never see flashing on walls or anything else when you TP into a new area?
Did you check to see if by chance your graphics driver reverted to an earlier version when you reinstalled? Shouldn't, but depending on what it thinks you told it to do ... it is not impossible.
Other than that, the only thing I can think of is corruption of very basic avatar mesh files in your cache. Try deleting it completely (you will have to reset your preferences afterwards):
In XP the folder is (delete the whole thing): C:\Documents and Settings\<your userid>\Application Data\SecondLife
In Vista the folder is: C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\SecondLife .

I notice that problem when i am surrounded by very "busy" textures. My house has a lot of different and detailed textures. Might try changing in a plain colored room, like a default grey.

have you installed the latest video drivers for your video card? won't completely solve the problem but it won't hurt

Some video cards have problems like this when the 'enable VBO...' option is checked in SL's graphics preferrences.

That happened to my husband one time months ago. I *think* he solved it by updating the video drivers, but it may have been unchecking VBO like Dana mentioned. I'll try to remember to ask him when he gets home tomorrow evening, if you haven't gotten it fixed before then. It was ghastly annoying, that much I *DO* remember.

Yep - just checked with my husband and confirmed that he made the flashing textures go away by updating the video drivers. Hope you were able to get it resolved by now!

I have had the texture of my skirt (non-prim) get replaced by other textures rendered by my viewer, ie. edit widow, pie menu, and land info window. At first, I thought it might be my video card misbehaving. Then I learned that others around me could see it too. I have not figured out why yet.

-Iva The OP is using Windows; I remember this being an issue with an older (mid 2007) Linux version...
