Is there a way for SL to be compatible with Windows 7?I have tried every thing but when it loads only the borders show up, i have tried all the viewers. But there is alot of people saying they have gotten SL to work with their Windows 7.

Check your graphics card and install the appropriate/latest drivers for Windows 7. If there aren't any for that card, this might be the problem.

One of the computers I use has just had Windows 7 installed. I haven't tried SL yet on it - I'll have a look later and report back.

When trying to run SL on Windows7: Never ever never ever never ever never ever expect it to work on the Microsoft video drivers. Get the brand's video drivers installed. Intel, Nvidia, ATI, you name it. Just don't expect the Microsoft drivers to work. (^_^)y

Hi,
I have just started using Windows7 and it is perfectly ok with Second Life. I am not into all the ins and outs of computers, but if it helps I have an Nvidia Graphics card and the RAM is quite substantially more than yours at 4 GB. My old computer with 512 RAM and XP and a Radeon graphics card was fine too.
I can't say I have noticed any difference between the two computers with their different graphics cards and RAM etc., but I certainly don't have any problems with SL from that point of view.
Hope that is some help to you, sorry I am not more techie minded though!!!
Honey

PULEEZE try to compose a informative name for your thread. It isn't difficult, trust me. Just think really really hard of what you're trying to ask, and then use some pertinent key words. Easy peasy.
Thank you.

Here's Windows 7 minimum requirements: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/system-requirements.aspxIt appears that you are lucky to even get Windows 7 to run, let alone Win7 AND SL. I'm sure there's a way but it's going to require some serious tweaking. Good luck,.

Running Windows 7
11-08-2009 11:05
My girlfriend and I have been using Windows 7 for several months now......As far as we are concerned it is the best OS we have ever used.......Our computers are totally different.........have had no issues with it in any way.....all our old software runs perfectly and it takes less than an hour to reformat with no issues like we have had with past window OS's.......Second Life runs great. The only issue I have had is that when I loaded my graphics driver it set the screen resolution into the 1600's.......this caused Second Life to keep crashing on me......Once I figured out the problem amd reset lower the crashing went away.

Reporting back from from my post earlier. I've downloaded the SL viewer onto the computer which has just been switched to Windows 7 from Vista and SL works really well, better than it did with Vista - although I was only logged in for a few minutes. I also downloaded the Emerald viewer and that worked fine too.
