Anyone else using Babbler? If so, has anyone else found that it hasn't been working or working very poorly the last week or so?

I put mine on the other day....dead silence. No offers to interpret.

Anyone else using Babbler? If so, has anyone else found that it hasn't been working or working very poorly the last week or so? I think its had problems with the actual babbler site before and he warned that they "don't like him" (author). It's likely the code has been tweaked again to stop it working. So much for the wish of open communication and a level playing field. |

I use Babbler every day. It was working fine today.
For some reason the other day none of my translation huds worked (Babbler, gTranslator, and another ($$$) that I can't recall the name of). But anyway Babbler always has it's good days and bad. |

Hi there,
I'm a frequent user of both Babbler and De-babbler. It has it's hick-ups. There are times when it seems to not work. Usually comes with a warning though. Main thing to check is whether you're in a non-scripting area. If it really has stopped working I'd suggest contact the creator. It's invaluable! _____________________

I stopped using Babbler when mine would occasionally shout bizarre statements without prompting. I now use a web site, AltaVista BabelFish. It really slows me down, but I'm told I "speak" Spanish, Portuguese, and French fairly well with it. -- KC

I think if whatever it uses to translate isn't working, then it won't work. I have had trouble recently, as it has only been working intermittently - more off than on.

Thanks for the responses, everyone. Managed to not get any notifications sent, so I missed them at first.
![]() I guess it does look like its being a bit unreliable for more people right now. Will have to hope it improves, it is a really useful tool when helping customers. |
