I recently installed a driver update for my nvidia geforce 8800 gts card, the 178.24 version on 11/19 but just now am having clothes problems like clothing templates showing up or moving the sliders in edit appearence mode and the clothes do not change. Any way to fix this or should I revert my card driver back to the older version?

problem was reported way back in 06 too. i have a 8800GS. and the 178 and 177 drivers appear to be the problem. Revert to an older one. I had to go back to 175.16 to resolve it.

The current problem can be worked around while keeping your updated drivers.

In the advanced menu (show by pressing ctrl-alt-shift-D) Go to Rendering > Features turn off Palitized Textures(sp?)
Then go to Character > Character Tests and pick Rebake textures.

As long as you don't change clothing layers you will not have to do this again. If you relog, then change clothing or skin items you will have to follow these steps again.

Perhaps that's the cause of this issue also;

I was mostly gone from SL for several months, and have only been able to spend some time in-world recently. During that time, I have NOT, repeat NOT updated my video drivers, yet I'm having the problems described above with some clothing items... items that relied on the sliders to set their boundaries instead of an alpha channel. This holds true whether I use an old or a current viewer.

I dont know what the actual answer is.. I just know LLs response was at best...flaccid.

That's a very good way to put it, and now I know why we still haven't seen the promised blog entry...

...the Lindens are still waiting for their shipment of Lie-agra to come in to firm up their flaccid reasoning.
