When I click into the "web" tab of profiles, the videos/media will not load. I get the following error message: Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player.
In an attempt to solve the problem, I re-downloaded Adobe flash player for both Firefox and IE. The problem persisted.
I then attempted to download the flash software through the SL browser, but it would not let me. The problem persisted.
I had tried viewing Flash in numerous profiles, different videos, etc, and it always gives me the same error.
I have also had a friend check the same videos, and they were able to view them. Therefore it is specific to my computer. Firefox is my default browser, but it also is for this friend. They also have the same computer as me.
I can view flash videos everywhere BUT the SL viewer. How do I fix it? What setting is wrong? (I tried a support ticket but I'm basic they basically told me to eff off.)
CPU: Intel Core 2 Series Processor (1829 MHz) Memory: 2046 MB OS Version: Microsoft Windows Vista (Build 6000) Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation Graphics Card: GeForce Go 7400/PCI/SSE2

Well I thought perhaps it wasn't supported, and I went to post a JIRA on it. However, I was referencing a specific profile, with a YouTube video in it's "Web" tab and where I got the error, they were able to view the video.
And I know for a fact that it used to work, because previously if I had load profile set on auto, music would play as soon as I opened somebody's profile IF they had a music player in their web tab.

High resolution video on YouTube is presented in MP4, not Flash. There are also plenty of different formats for serving music on a web page, from old school MIDI files to MP3s. Here's the JIRA you'll want, thouygh I believe you've already commented there: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/MOZ-1Mari

What I don't understand then... is why I get this error (shown in picture) However, when a friend in France, and other users I know (located on the Eastern seaboard) look at the same EXACT web tab as shown in the picture, the video plays. Edit: I just added a web url to my tab and again nothing. I asked a friend to check and they could see the video. I however get the error message shown in the picture.

From: Jazmiin Parx However, when a friend in France, and other users I know (located on the Eastern seaboard) look at the same EXACT web tab as shown in the picture, the video plays. Different javascript and/or security settings. Different default browser versions. Different hardware (same brand and model numbers can and will have different parts). Different OS or patch level. Un-supported does not mean it will never work, just that if it works for you, great, but they are not working to resolve any issues it may have.

Then I'm equally confused seeing how the French friend owns the same exact computer as me, same specs, etc... same default Java settings for the most recent Java update. Identical set-up but it works for one and not the other.

Could you get your friends that see the video in the web tab to make a screen shot of it?
I question whether they are really seeing the video in the embedded browser.
Java and Javascript aren't the same things, by the way.
The embedded browser does do Javascript, but not Java. I don't think Java has any relevance to the question of displaying videos.
The embedded browser on my system produces the same error that you get when I look at your profile.

At the risk of starting a technicl nit-pic session, for all intense and purposes they are completly different animals.

I wrote a special html page for the web tab in my profile and embedded a flas music player supplied by Last FM in order to play some of my recordings to all you profile browsers out there. Well, it worked for a while but now it simply fails to load. FWIW, I also get the 'wrong version' error message when I attempt to view YouTube pages thru the in-world browser. Could be something to do with Flash or mebbe LL altered their browser code in some way.
