1. I have a folder named "pristine items." In it I have an item that when I drag it onto the ground, it auto attaches to my hud. When I do this, instead of the object in the "pristine items" folder showing as worn, there is an entry in my "Objects" folder showing the object as worn. Huh? If I edit the object, am I really editing the one in the pristine folder? 2. All of the sudden, one of the items I have been working on now rezzes from inventory upside down. I did NOT change the rotation. They really need to auto add version numbers to the objects....

If I edit the object, am I really editing the one in the pristine folder? Almost certainly, the "pristine" object has copy permission, so when you rez it, you're actually creating a copy that shows up in the Objects folder when attached. (It must be asking your permission before auto-attaching, though, right?) (There's a remote possibility that these are two distinct objects, the Object folder one rezzed by a copy of the one in the pristine folder when you rez it--and that pristine copy destroys itself--but that's not the most parsimonious explanation. That wouldn't work on a no-script parcel, so if one were really curious it would be possible to determine if that was what was going on. Anyway, to answer the question: no, those are two distinct instances, and you can't edit the "pristine" one by editing the "Objects" one. From: someone 2. All of the sudden, one of the items I have been working on now rezzes from inventory upside down. I did NOT change the rotation. I've seen this happen when I attached an object and then later rezzed it on the ground. Think it depends on the attachment point used, somehow.
