Greetings I've just started working on teeny tiny prims and I'm finding it increasingly difficult to do as the selected prim glows likes it's radioactive!.. which is all very pretty but I can't see what I'm working on and it's making me go cross eyed!.. Anyone know how to turn it down or off ? Second ? I have is that I noticed that when I build or touch an object, the light that zaps out my arm is white and always has been, however, I've seen other peeps build/ rez and their light beams are a different colour like red ? is there a way to change the colour of your rezzing beam ?? Thanks in advance

Have to research if there's anything to be done about the first thing, but for the light-emitting-finger color, see Preferences : General : Color for my effects.

You might want to turn your selection beam off by un-X-ing "Show Selection Beam" in the Tools menu.
There are a number of variables to adjust in Client / Debug Settings that start with "SelectionHighlight".
To make the selection lines thinner try SelectionHighlightThickness.
To make the selection lines more or less opaque try SelectionHighlightAlpha.
There are others of that nature you might want to fiddle with. \
Also, might also try SilhouetteChildColor and SilhouetteParentColor.

From: SuezanneC Baskerville There are a number of variables to adjust in Client / Debug Settings that start with "SelectionHighlight" Yep. I fiddled with many of these and after restarting the client, the glowing outline is pretty much gone, so they're the right ones, though I can't say which of them made the difference.

From: Qie Niangao restarting the client Yes, I forgot to say, sadly enough you have to restart SL to see the effect, so no realtime interactive tweaking till it's perfect. Once you have these set the way you want you might want to use a text editor to save a file with a name you will be able to figure out later and save the values of these settings, and make a copy in a notecard.

Thanks you two xx
I've had a play around and and found that changing the SilhouetteChildColor and SilhouetteParentColor didnt' really do anything, as it seemed to just revert back to 255 after I logged back in..
However, I messed around with the Selection Thickness to 0.10 .. Aelection UAnim -0.500 ..Selection Alpha 005 and that seems to have done the trick.. no glowing !! and the lines are still highlighted with no gaps ( which I seemed to get at .05 thickness )
Thanks for the help guys, I really didn't have a clue !

From: MIT Bourne i have the exact same beam when i use llsay on an object too, anyway to disable it? the beam is square grey and it rotates around my oject thanks in advance this is different, and should look like little white particles (maybe you're aren't rezzed?), anytime an objects say's whispers or shouts something an av can hear... and only the av's that can hear it will see the particles (calleed chat swirl)... it's so that people can find talking objects easier (and used to be on every avatar, thank heavens they removed that!) @OP: there's a menu selection I believe for 'highlight selected object' (or somesuch) related to building that will completely remove the selection glow (and another one the removes the glow of items hidden behind others)

thanks for this post guys, never even thought about removing those horable selection lines, will give it a go tonight
as for the hand lines, i was in a sand box once and a fella there asked me why my hand pee was red. i think 'hand pee' should be the new tecnical term.
