I'm a bit slow on the uptake, and I only just realised you can do this with the help pages.
How long has this been possible? Is it practical?

We've been able to do this in one fashion or another for a long time.
It's easier in the Linden Lab clients now than it has been, but still not incorporated as fully as would be nice. One way to do it now is to do Help, Inworld Help; then type your url into the address field. We can access these forums from the inworld browser, and many other useful and or fun SL related sites work ok. There are limitations to the browser currently, fancy things like Flash don't work, and things that call Java don't work, but the more basic pages work just fine. The OnRez viewer is neat in this respect; when the LSL command llLoadUrl is called in a script, the url opens up in the inclient browser, instead of an external browser. I wish that LL would trim all the fat, every possible pixel, from the mozilla browser dialog. Screen space is so precious when you are try to see the virtual world and the 2D interface on the same screen, and the frame around the browser content is huge. _____________________

Some folks might find it use to have a web browser inworld. It can be convenient not having to switch between windows see your browser.
The old F1 help is still available at http://suezanne.fateback.com/help/index-2.html. Some folks might like having a fairly compactly designed help resource like that onscreen without having to flip back and forth. ![]() As SL gets more web service based, web sites that make it useful will be created. _____________________
