So for all the guys who *aren't* stuck at work all day. How's opening day of the MHO Hunt going? I'm looking forward to trying it when I get home.

I went late last night before I went to bed to avoid the rush and just hit some of my favourite stores such as Hoorenbeck which has some nice unisex sneakers. Since it's running for a month, I think I'll just keep my eyes open on the men's fashion blogs to see what's good and worth going to rather than dealing with the lag and grabbing stuff that I might not be interested in.

The list of participating stores is here for those that might not have seen it: http://makehimover.blogspot.com/2009/05/complete-designer-list-for-mhoh.html

Busy as hell at MADesigns, the first stop (as it always is at first stops). I'm at #16 and the region just went down from so many people being in it. Couple of bottlenecks along the way (#5 and #10 were tricky, and #12 will make you laugh) but so far so good.

Addendum: Box #20 expects you to pay 1L$ for it. It seems from the object chat that only the first five people to grab that one got it free; everyone else must pay 1L$. It also needs to be worn and edited so you can drag the next LM out of it, since it doesn't give a folder and the area is no-rez.

Expecting people to pay for box #20 seems to be a bit unfair to the folks at #21.

If I were running the hunt, this would be enough to disqualify a store from participating.
Sadly quite a few stores in recent hunts are engaging in practices that I would consider dubious at best.

They list all the stores in the blog post Joshooah linked to, so it'll be easy enough to skip that store.

Tried it tonight -- my first attempt at a hunt. I think I'll go back to building, random exploring, and listening to group chat,

It doesn't help that SL is acting up tonight and the stores are taking forever to rez.

The exact text from store #20 (with store name redacted, to comply with 'no naming' policy of the forums) -

[2009/06/01 11:21] MHOH #20 - [Store Name]: Please right click and select PAY to receive your gift for L$1.
[2009/06/01 11:21] MHOH #20 - [Store Name]: The LM to the next MHO store is included in your box!
[2009/06/01 11:21] MHOH #20 - [Store Name]: Thank you for your purchase. Unfortunately, all FIVE of the free gifts have already gone.

I know people could say, "It's only 1L$, what are you complaining about?" but I've been on several large hunts before and, unless stated beforehand, I don't think I've ever had to pay for just one of the prizes. While I was TP-ing around I saw a lot of newbie guys doing the hunt, some of whom were at the store when I was and who were confused about having to pay for a prize (and then, since it was boxed and the area was no-rez, how to get the next location's LM out of it).

The reasoning behind boxing the item instead of putting it in a folder was obvious: people wouldn't pay the 1L$, instead they would simply examine the prize's contents, see the next store's LM and search for it (because you can bet a lot of people doing this hunt won't consider or know about the blog). If it's boxed, you have to buy it to see the next location. It's a little underhanded, to say the least.

Besides, even "just 1L$" would net a tidy amount for the store owner with so many guys doing the hunt.

probably .. my friend made the same mistake at his store when he gave out gift cards in his subscribeomatic but allowed folks to go back into history and get the gift again. someone bought a ton of stuff before he noticed so you could also send a quick im to the owner to see if that was meant to be.

I've seen a store "accidentally" give out free L$25 gift cards when the cheapest thing in the store was L$50, and when I warned the owner he said it was accidentally on purpose and he was making a mint. :)

Just wanted to say this was a very good hunt that I enjoyed very much. Never did a a hunt till now and tried starting a few hunts after this. Unfourtunately all the other hunts seem so female geared that I hope that more male only hunts will pop up in the future.

Love that mall, thanks Lindal.

Argent (or Skell), was the fluff about the $1 L "free" gift ever resolved?

Clarissa, I read something a few days ago about the owner of that store setting their prize out at L$1 and then having no access to a computer for a while. The L$1 fee was described as 'a mistake' and the lack of access unavoidable. For the life of me, at this hour of the morning (and after only about 4 hours of sleep) I can't remember where I read it, since I peruse a lot of SL blogs.

Well, after grousing about it I gave it another shot and now have about 2/3 of it done.

Now I'm terrified of organizing my inventory!

They're showing all the gifts in the MHOH blog so you can just take a look to see if you might be interested in that gift and just go to those stores. http://makehimover.blogspot.com/

I did the whole thing in some mad 2 day frenzy and I didn't end up really keeping much of it but then again I'm a bit picky.

I promised I wouldn't do another hunt again for a while until Littleme posted the retrology hunt just now. Curses! I didn't do all of it but it seemed like most of it was probably for girls although I haven't opened up anything. The only thing I think I might like could be the prize from UBU but haven't opened that yet. I'm hoping they are nice shoes but I'm too tired to look.
