Hi I'm a real newbie here. I have completely messed up my original avatar. Is there a way I can go back to square one and start all over again? I tried a load of free shapes, skins and clothes without thinking I had to save the body I was born with.I really don't want to have to join SL again with a different name etc. Or should I just bite the bullet and buy a pre-made body? If so could you advise me where to find a vendor to sell me a late middle aged slightly overweight body? TIA

In your "Library" folder in your inventory are all the default shapes and avatars. Whichever one you chose at signup will be there.

If you look in the Library part of your inventory (at the very bottom) you will find a bunch of avatars - including the one you first had. Just drop the various folders on to yourself, one at a time, until you find the one you had - or the one you like

I'll suggest you go to "New Citizens Institute" or "The Shelter" and ask the helpful staff at either place for advice of shape adjustments.
There is no "undo" feature to regain a previously adjusted shape. But if you had chosen one of the default free avatars to begin with, and had not changed the slider settings, then you can get a fresh copy of that original starting point in the "Library" section of your Inventory.
When customizing your shape, it is a good idea to stop once in a while and save a copy of the revised shape, giving each changed version a new name. Then you can go back and try again from one of those points.

The starting avatars for the standard entrance into Second Life (and I say this only because I know nothing about the special gateways or languages other than English) are all stored in your library under 'clothes'. So open up your inventory, look at the bottom for library, open that and go to 'clothes', right click on what corresponds to your original choice and choose replace clothes from the list. That should do it. Although I do prefer pre-made bodies, and lean toward MADesigns right now. They even give you a styling card, so you don't have to think, just spend money - about L$ 3,600 for everything.
