Suddenly No Sound?

Minding my own business last night when all of a sudden my firewall gave me an error reaching a certain URL. No problem, it does that for some audio streams. Yet ever since, I seem to have no sound at all in my viewer. No audio streams and no SL-generated sounds (no IM beep, gestures with sound are silent, etc.). This is occurring only on the release viewer, not the RC viewer. This morning, when it continued after the PC was turned back on, I uninstalled the SL viewer and reinstalled. Still silence.

Is there a hidden setting I should check somewhere in the Advanced menu? The RC viewer isn't bad, but I don't want to be unable to use the regular release.

Just checking: Otherwise the PC still has sound, it's just SL that doesn't?

Yes. I finally fixed the sound a few moments ago by uninstalling all of the viewers on my PC (RC with functional sound, release without), wiping out the settings folder, then reinstalling.

I'm still curious about whether anyone knows of any settings (debug?) that could have caused this. I figure I ought to learn something from it... blowing away an install is always an inelegant way of fixing things!
