Just found this old pic of the Grid from Thursday, October 19, 2006, 2:48:08 PM

MUCH smaller than it is now. I miss being able to see individual Sims on the map.

That's not 2006.

That's back in 2005 or so, about a year prior.

Oh Shush, old person!! :p

My 1st SL experience was with 1.5 or 1.6. One of them.

HEH! I wished for better graphics & prims. Got Windlight & scultpties. Wished for better physics, got H4.

Now I wish for the ability to touch boobs in SL :D

I think the biggest downer for me now is, the map.

I used to look at the map, pick a new place & go explore. Now it takes SOOOOOO long for the map to load and even then you run into the "private sim" you cant get to.

Wow, those maps are something. I came in just over a year ago when Nautilus and Corsica weren't even being started. I used to like to zoom in on Map and look around. If it had a telehub, I figured I was safe to go there. Once I found a 6 or 8 sim island on Map and I haven't been able to find it since. I didn't think to write the name down, oh well.

Not sure about your date Tod - the Southern continent existed in October 2006 - that's when I joined and I had my first land there.

Yeah, I think that seems about right, because I owned land in Disl around that point, and I recall it looking exactly like that when I'd open the map to explore. Now I'm in a totally different continent.

It's kinda nice to see that some of the first sims I ever explored (Boardman, Kissling etc) are some of the oldest. Even though I didn't join until Sept 06.

Ya, dat date can't be right: I joined in February 2006 and started living in Islandia in March of dat year -- Islandia doesn't even exist on dat map.

Wow, what a difference. Just shows you how far SL has come.

How often do they change the map on the viewer? I took down my huge swimming pool two weeks ago and it is still showing on the map.

Considering my join date, I know the map comes sometime after. Give or take a few months.

Is there even a way to see what the grid looks like now? I'm confused kinda on where island sit physically in contrast to the mainland.. or are they just floating in cyberspace?

I did that map by taking screenshots then pasting them into Photoshop into one big map. Took alot of time.

It'd probably take even longer now that the map takes for-ever to load. :(
