As I understand it.....an alt account is an entirely seperate account that a person creates with an entirely seperate AV with totally different stuff...

So....I'm chatting with my friend the other day... and he (she uses a male AV but has a female alt) decides to come back on as the female because I'm going to help her with a new look..... so...I'm standing there...and dude logs off....and dudette appears...different name.... female.... but wearing exactly the same outfit as the male alt that just logged of, LOL. Tell me she does this deliberately? LMAO It was a female AV no doubt...but she had on all the same stuff as he did....right down to the tattoos. I'm dealing with a person it keeps it very simple right??

It was late.....it confused me.....but am I correct that your alt begins as a noob like anyone else and also must create their own look?

Yes, that's correct. But it's a fairly simple matter for the old av to drop a copy of their shape, clothes, etc. on the new alt. Easier than starting from scratch!

Well, you could only give your transferrable stuff to your alt. Everything else would have to be purchased.

Why have an alt if it looks the same, except for name and gender??? Maybe he/she was just having a little joke with you

LOL Well... this person is a trip, I can tell you that. He (she) only decided to use the female AV after I agreed that i could help her with a certain celebrity look that she is dying to bring to life in SL. In reality....I think this person is a tad ADhD (ok, more than a tad) and simply does not have the focus to spend any time on making her avatars unique. Probably the guy was the easier choice......it's a bit more complicated making a female cause there's just sooooo many options. (looking at it from the perspective of an ADhD person...I can see where this would just totally confound them) LOL

Sure, just like giving money to any other avatar - select "pay" from the alt's profile and given him or her the Lindens.

Yes, you can "Pay" the alt
Just pull up the other profile and it is just like any other person/character/alt

Since my poor alt is my model alt.. my main pays her a certain allotment every week. If she wants more, she can get another job ;)

I have my main and my alt. One is now for business purposes and the other is more for fun. I mean, who wants to be IM'd all the time while trying to explore?!

Also, I can see the issue between having a male and female alts. Name. It's fine if you have an alt named Tracy or Kelly.. but what if you have a girls name like Gina? A guy would be pretty silly looking with a girl's name.. so many people create alts for the more gender appropriate names.

Raudf has a male form.. the name doesn't look too silly with a male. Doesn't matter either way, since I've only used it twice.

Why have an alt if it looks the same, except for name and gender???

Well, lack of imagination is one possibility. :-)

Or could just be that the alt hasn't gotten around to fully customizing hirself yet. Borrowing the main's appearance gives you enough to immediately differentiate you from all the other newbies, but doesn't require hours of fiddling.

Or in my case, for instance, my main and alt both represent different aspects of myself, so they both look like me, more or less -- which means they look similar to each other (with very different wardrobes, mind). I'm still working on getting their bodies to accurately reflect the differences between them, but like I said, it's a lot easier to start from the same shared base and mutate that than it is to start completely from scratch.

And I'm answering this far too seriously for a thread that no one else is taking seriously. *sigh* But that's what I get for letting Rihanna on the forums and not the alt. Too serious by far, she is.
