Not sure if anyone know this or not but Textures R Us got shutdown!!!! The story is the guy who owns the sim wanted something else there. It sucks! They were great. Anyway does anyone know where I can find some top quality urban wharehouse type textures? I want good ones though not cheap ones.
If anyone knows please let me know, thanks!

Textures Unlimited and GNU are both very nice places to find textures. There are literally hundreds of such stores across SL, but those two are at the top level as was TRU. Shame to see them go.

Hm, if that is really the case I`m sure they would get a new sim (Perhaps their own) and re set up.
Try searching online theres tons of great urban textures for free. You may want to even try turbosquid.com

There are some great freebie textures at Harbinger's and Dreams sandboxes. Also I also got some nice one from a freebie texture place at Sakaw 42, 254,89,
You may as well check them out before spending big money.

If anyone knows please let me know, thanks! This is absolutely FALSE. TRU HAS NOT BEEN SHUT DOWN. Even if the English Rose sim were to for some reason go belly up overnight, all the TRU artists, like myself, have copies of all our vendors. We could set up a new store in a new sim on very little notice. So I assure you, Textures-R-Us is not going anywhere, We're in this for the long haul. Ceera Murakami Senior Texture Artist. Go TRU!! Go TRU!! (and bring back the personal vendors that let me search for textures on my own land, please!!) We are working on a new and improved HUD system for TRU, that will allow you to search *all* the textures by keyword, purchase individual textures or the bundle that they are part of, and will allow you to pay from your L$ balance -or- from an in-world credit card system. All as an HUD system that you can access from anywhere in-world! Should be released within the next 30 days.

Part of the delay in releasing the new HUD is that to do it, we need to replace every vendor in TRU with new ones, running new scripts, and each vendor needs a keyword list on a notecard, tucked into the vendor, for the HUD to use in its search. In my own case that means I must come up with appropriate keywords to describe over 1000 textures. And I'm not the most prolific texture artist at TRU. There's at least 5 other artists who have more bundles in the store than I do - and the store owner, LillyBeth Filth, has more textures in the store than all the other TRU artists combined.
It's a monumental effort, but should be worth it when it is released.

Ceera, I don't know if you know the answer to this but I read that the original vendors were withdrawn due to product theft. Does the HUD get around this?
I only ask because I don't really like HUDs on the whole - I find them fiddly & screen cluttering. And I liked the old Vendors because it meant that anyone visiting my home could buy from TRU, or at least discover them & maybe go to the store as a result.

I only ask because I don't really like HUDs on the whole - I find them fiddly & screen cluttering. And I liked the old Vendors because it meant that anyone visiting my home could buy from TRU, or at least discover them & maybe go to the store as a result. As I understand it, there were several problems with the old TRU Singles Vendors. The worst was that they displayed the full texture in a huge size, un-altered, which made it fairly easy to steal textures by screen-shots. As I understand it, the new HUD will display a watermark over the viewed texture, making it less likely that you could screen-shot it and get anything useful. The old singles vendor only offered a small fraction of what was offered at TRU, and its search function was based on texture name. So if the name didn't describe it well enough, you'd never find what you wanted. The new HUD will allow the artists to define as many keywords per texture as needed to make them easy to search for, and will allow all textures at TRU to be sold via the HUD. The old TRU singles vendor paid a small commission to the person who owned it. The initial idea was that people would set them up in their own stores, and that their customers would buy from there, increasing our exposure. But what a lot of people did was get the vendor, and then use it only for their own purchases, effectively pocketing the per-sale commission as a product discount. The old singles vendors also had a negative impact on our sales. A lot of people opted to go with the limited selection in the vendors, rather than coming into the store. They might buy one texture, unaware that it was part of a matched set of 15 that they could get at a better per-texture price if bought as a set. Or they might be un-aware that the same artist had just released that window frame in purple trim, because it hadn't been released to the singles vendor yet. With the new system, you can purchase the single texture from the HUD - You can view and purchase the bundle that it is part of, from the HUD, or you can TP directly to that vendor in the TRU main store, where you could see all the similar offerings from that artist and our other artists, and buy there. The new system will allow you to search and find things in the entire store, and not just a small subset. I believe the new HUD will be copyable and transferrable, so you can give copies to friends.

Thanks for that - all seems fair enough really. I look forward to trying it out.
BTW - has anyone figured out what the OP was up to?

BTW - has anyone figured out what the OP was up to? There was, briefly, some difficulty that morning accessing the English Rose sim. I will be charitable and assume that the original poster (and some others) hastily jumped to a conclusion, based on insuffient information.

Wow.. Good stuff, Ceera!! I especially like the improved search stuff and that you can get to the bundle from a single. Hopefully the search will have some way to filter hits *out* of the results, too. Any chance we'll be getting a non-HUD version? I really like the old version because I could whip it out while building and find textures that matched what I was doing without having to TP a) away from where I could see my work in progress and b) to the TRU store, which can be a little laggy. Maybe you could have a personal version that has no discount but is free and a commercial version that has a small kickback to the owner but costs some L$ to get?
