:( I'm contemplating a big decision myself.....

I wanted a Homestead and I got it.......and I love it and I did exactly what I envisioned with it. I get quite a bit of traffic, tho sadly noone buys the art.....and the skin shop is new so I'm not expecting that to shoot right out of the gate at full throttle......

But....tho it's good news that tier wont be going up.....I'm kind of on the fence about continuing it thru the summer. I happened to find an amazing NYC sim while doing a bridge photo shoot......and on impulse I rented a loft for a couple weeks and I've been more and more impressed with this place the more I explore it. Right now there's a few very cool shop spaces for rent.....and some really amazing loft commercial spaces (gallery) so part of me is thinking.......why don't I just cut my expenses because even if I rent an apartment, a shop space and gallery space....I still wont even be close to what I spend on my island.

 But I really don't know what to do. If the city sim starts to get packed and laggy....am I gonna be kicking myself in 3 months LOL. But, if it's gets packed.....that's good for business and lemme tell ya, this sim is fantastic, I absolutely love it. In the 3 years I've been in SL and all the cool places I've seen......I've never loved a place so much I had to grab a loft apartment. :p But, it reminds me of home too.....aint nothing like NYC down here in flat ole Florida. lol

The economy sucks.....it's sheer determination that I hang on to my island because I worked so hard to make the gallery happen..... maybe some thoughts from you guys will help me put this in better perspective.

If you love it, do what makes you happy.

After all, if you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere!

You own and island and a HS? How about renting them out while you explore New York? Leave yourself a small parcel for an island home so you can get away from NYC if it looses its charm.

True Dnali....LOL

I actually rent the homestead. I didn't want to buy out right because I'm not a land barron and there's no way I was gonna 'buy' a homestead when in truth I'd never really own it. So.....Arpes is a rental....and the entire island is a gallery/memorial to my parents. It's kind of tearing at my guts to think of un-doing it after I worked so hard to make it happen......and after all the rave reviews I got for doing it. Even my brother & sister joined SL because of it!

But.....then again.....can I justify the cost.....not really. I barely scrape it together every month, but it's for a cause....my mom had MS and I wanted her paintings to gain exposure and help support MS research. And the gallery has done that...... it's just that people come and wander and enjoy.....but they don't buy.

I can still make the same thing happen with a gallery in the city......it's just that I'd be cutting out the island element which is devoted to my dad, who raised us all to love the sea as he did.

Perhaps the thing for me to do is go ahead with my city plans....and keep the island another month and see what happens. Ugh.... it breaks my heart to have to decide.....but then again, I could always re-do it down the road some time when I have better funds.
I need coffee LOL
