Hi, how do you retrieve money that has been paid to join a group? I am one of the owners of the group, I set it so others would have to pay to join...then invited another of my avs to join thinking the Lindens would go to me...but they are stuck in the group.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the group pays out once a day, equally dividing the $ amongst any group members in a role with 'group liabilities' enabled. Do this *immediately*: Open Group Info for the group, the Members & Roles tab, the Roles sub-tab, and make sure that only the Owner Role has the Allowed Ability to "Pay group liabilities and receive group dividends." (It's toward the bottom of the list, under the "Accounting" heading.) Then wait. About every 24 hours, Group L$s get split evenly (more or less) among all the members in roles with that ability. [Edit: Which is what Nina said more succinctly as I was pressing Submit. ]

It isn't *your* stupidity at fault here, by any means.
It's the faulty assumption by LL that anyone forming a group is doing it as a co-op of equal partners, like when several people work together to build a single entertainment venue. The default setting in all groups is that the "Everyone" role, which al members MUST be a part of, has "Pay Liabilities" checked. So if anyone pays for a group membership, or pays money to a group-deeded object like a tip jar, or the group sells group land, then every member with that "Pay Liabilities" role checked gets an EQUAL share of the profits. Likewise, any fees incurred by the group for being listed in search are charged and split evenly among the group.
Imagine being the owner of a group that has half a sim, and 1000 members. You sell your group-deeded land, so you can move the group's stuff to a new area. And 24 hours after the sale, ALL the group members get 1/1000 th of the sale profits.

It has been suggested that only owners have group liabilities by default as this is the safer and more intuitive default position (as illustrated by how many get caught out either by giving group members money by mistake, or group members incurring costs by mistake). There is a jira on this http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-378 which seems to be ignored by LL. Matthew
