Changing from original community?

Hi there,

I'm very new to SL [as in less than 24 hrs lol]...I read that I can switch from the original community I chose when I first signed up. I have NO IDEA how to do this. lol I've looked everywhere. The place I'm at now is sooo desolate. I'll check the map at different times throughout the day...and there is nothing going on and only a few people floating around the community.

So...how can I change to go somewhere else??

Lots of people are doing that this week. One of the best places to start out at, you can find these in the search, is New Citizens Inc. (NCI).

One other thing you can do is open your map and search for Help Island Public. There are usually lots of people there, and usually 1 or more mentors. Now there are also some peeps there that aren't necessarily the most helpful, but most are.

Also the Forum Cartel group, also found in search can be very helpful in getting started.

You can go anywhere you want to on the Second Life map, except private estates that don't allow access. To find some cool places to visit, use the Showcase list in the Search menu, or just ask around.

You can go anywhere in the whole of second life by teleporting. Your signup community is just a first landing point.

Try NCI which is a great place for new people. Hit the search button at the bottom of your screen. Select the "All" tab. Search on NCI. Click the first item that comes up in the list. Click on the teleport button and off you go.

Or you can search on any phrase and any places that match will have a teleport button.

Click on the search button then on the ALL tab type in something that interests you. You will find many things are listed have a look and from there click onthe teleport. DO NOT map hop because you can land in places that are not open for ppl to come to and could land in someones home

as others have said you can go anywhere as long as the land owner allows it

If you open search, you can do searches under the all button for things that interest you (much like searching the web on google) and then when you find one that catches your eye, click on the link on the left, and it will open a window on the right, from there you can read a little about it, and if you want to visit, click the teleport button to go there.

The Shelter is also a great place to meet other new folks and get some tips and pointers.

I second the Shelter being a great place to go. One of my assistant managers works there and every time I've went there have been a great group of people there. It really depends on where you go and where you look. I work at the DCWF, and most times we have a good group there, so it all depends. Explore, you'll find something. Promise.
