There is protected land along Gaeta's (Continent #7's) north shore. I don't think it was there back on June of '08 because I remember encountering endless banlines and feelnig very frustrated. I have been walking and swimming along the north shore of Gaeta filled with dread and been pleasantly surprised.

Hyannisport surprised me most of all. Here was this huge piece of protected land with temperate shorefront, something I've only seen on one other sim, and that was freshwater shorefront. This was saltwater. There was a lovely shore build that went with the theme. I clicked About Land and found the following:

"The Hyannisport Infohub project has been canceled."

That means Gaeta has no infohubs.

I wish I knew more about Hyannisport and any other infohubs that failed in Gaeta. Has anybody heard of this besides me?

Yes, both Hyannisport (currently leased my LL to a Lively survivors group) and Helfell (currently the home of a squatter!) were planned infohubs that withered n the vine as needs changed. Bay City was also intended for one, and may well be getting one as Bay Citizens has pushed for it. Nautilus City might also eventually get one, but its unsure.

The focus has been on third party signups to Second Life (with their own "newbie areas";), not LL ones.

You're probably right. My colleague who just did not mesh with SL oriented through a third party portal (NMC Ilsands) and I escaped the standard orientation to orient there as well. I still carry NMC Guests as one of my groups, not that they do much. I've seen large private info-hubs at Lisboa Portugal and NMLB Coppacanbanna (both Portuguese speaking and no I haven't learned Portuguese) but my ecomap takes me into those areas.

An ecomap is a map of relationships and with SL probably familiar places. Often the first searches one does (or at lest those I do) or a major exploration project yield relationships (friends, landmarks etc...) that form the ecomap.

In my case, I searched for camping sites and came up with Ilha Bella Gomorra (Yes, there is a Sodom too.) and from there one thing led to another through a DJ named Xandi Vitelli who is still in business.

Another search landed me at Eternal Creations, to which I freqently return.

A third set of searches, this time for places in the American South landed me on a river boat and gave me an invitation to Hy on Blues which often has dancing nights at th eGlam Shack.

The places I go and the places mentioned on this board are not one and the same and my ecomap was built by chance.
