Hi everyone - Since I did the last upgrade approx 3 days ago I have had nothing but a real problem with sound when the stream is change like at an open mic and also in teleporting. I have had to reboot like 10 times after logging on, having media at home then teleporting and ZIP GONE :( I have just tonight download the RELEASE CANDIDATE as it was suggested to me but once again, logged on, had sound, teleported and POOF GONE. I have had no problems with my sound in other programs, the use of winamp etc. When working with SL LIVE MUSICIANS and owning a venue this is not very enjoyable anymore

Any suggestions are open to discussion or any ideas as I am so ready to cancel anything to do with Second Life after being a resident for over 2 years

Thanking you in advance,

Amanda Steadham

SORRY should have posted in technical first but have posted there also

What version were you using before you did the latest upgrade three days ago? Can you reinstall that one?

You might have a firewall problem, sometimes that happens after installing a different version of SL and you have to make sure your firewall is once again set properly.

Perhaps you needs to set the ports for your router.

What operating system are you using?

What video card and what version of video driver?

Have checked the firewall, both versions of SL are allowed, don't have a router, Windows xp pro, and video card/driver for sound? :(

In addition to what Suzanne said, what soundcard are you using? It sounds to me like maybe you've got a driver compatibility issue. Update to the latest driver for your card, and see if that solves the problem.

You might also want to update your Quicktime if it's not the most current version. That's more of a longshot, but it certainly couldn't hurt.

Chosen I have SB LIVE! 24 Bit sound card, have looked for new drivers, there are none, have also searched for new drivers from the device manager and nothing. Quicktime is up to date also :( Next step is to delete this version and reinstall the older version again and cross my fingers it does not force me to upgrade to the current version :( Thank you all so far for your help :)

I thought you were crashing when you teleport, but it was just the sound that went ZIP GONE, eh?

I think , if memory serves, that you might get a message advising you to upgrade after installing the previous version, but you can ignore it.

Yes it is just the sound that goes ZIP, tried to install last version, 1.20. and forced me to upgrade in BIG RED LETTERS, couldn't get anywhere without it so uninstalled and reinstalled newer one and will try it and see what happens. Am logged inworld now for a bit, teleported around a bit and still have sound, so tomorrow is another day, we will see THANK YOU again everyone, will check here tomorrow if anyone else has suggestions. Looks like the latest SoundBlaster Live! 24-bit driver is version 1.04.0077, published in July of last year. Is that the one you have?

http://support.creative.com/Products/ProductDetails.aspx?catID=1&subCatID=206&prodID=10315&prodName=Live!%2024-bit&subCatName=Live!&CatName=Sound+Blaster

Whether it is or it isn't, it might not be a bad idea to remove your existing one (use Driver Cleaner), and then install a newly downloaded one from scratch. That way, you can be (reasonably) sure nothing is corrupted.

Sounds like you lost all your setting s when you upgraded . Go in a double check all your audio settings and chose correct sound device.
Maybe force detect hardware again .

one lil thing that I figured out this morning, LL is migrating most of the mainland to new servers. In my opinion that deserves a welcome screen message, a 2 week 500 server migration, that will affect all of our performance, that may be the problem there.
