I am training my partner to be an estate manager and I'm still not clear on how flexible the Hipporent system is in terms of estate manager management. I know how to set the rent boxes so that multiple people can use the administrative controls on them, but I'm really confused about how that applies to web-based management, and what level of control I can have over rent box notifications. Could someone please clarify a couple things?
- Is it possible for my partner to have an account at the HippoTech site so she can use the web management features as well, or is there only one system-owner account? - Is there a way to set it so that my partner only gets certain notifications? I don't want to spam her every time someone pays a box, but I do want both of us to get "eviction" notices.
I've been looking through the notecards and I still don't get the management groups that you can set up on the website.

From: Wildefire Walcott - Is it possible for my partner to have an account at the HippoTech site so she can use the web management features as well, or is there only one system-owner account? At this time, no, not as far as I can see. Just one system-owner account. There is a way to tie the web servers to inworld servers using the Configuration Extra, and it worked for a while for me but then it crapped out when somehow the servers were "forgotten." I haven't bothered with it again, since that would require me to re-do 155 boxes. From: someone - Is there a way to set it so that my partner only gets certain notifications? I don't want to spam her every time someone pays a box, but I do want both of us to get "eviction" notices. No. IMs appear to be an all-or-nothing deal, except that the management group is not notified of prim overages, just the landlord. From: someone I've been looking through the notecards and I still don't get the management groups that you can set up on the website. You can set up any number of groups, usually for revenue sharing. I have a group for management that Chris is in, and he gets notices of when the box is paid and when people are evicted. It's a little annoying, but I spare him the duplicative emails from the box. I have another group that I use for revenue splitting on one property. The groups are a handy feature. Make the group, decide how revenue should be split, if at all.

I gave one of my business partners the user name and password for our Hippo Rent site. That way, if I get hit by a truck, the operation can go on.

This is good too, but you must absolutely trust your business partner (as a general rule). If your business partner is a spouse, definitely do this. But because anyone with that access can change the revenue-sharing percentages, or create groups for revenue-splitting to potentially siphon off revenue, it requires the highest level of trust and I do not recommend sharing that password with anyone that is not your spouse or someone you know irl and trust implicitly.
