I usually have my land with Groove Salad playing, from Soma FM, but for some reason it's not working at the moment. Is anyone else having problems with streaming radio?

I haven't changed any of my settings, and can't figure out what the problem is.

Any suggestions anyone?

Streaming music has been bad for me this past week and weekend. Cutting in and out, dropping altogether so I have to restart the player, just generally misbehaving.

I hope the new server rollout will improve things. No suggestion other than to wait it out. Not very helpful, but it's all I got.

You might want to see if you can play the station using an external media player such as Winamp (for Windows) or MPlayer (for Linux). If it doesn't play there either, then you've likely got a dead station or a dead link.

A lot of my internet radio stations like to change addresses from time to time. I just had to refresh the addresses of all my SKY FM presets because they had all changed all at once. I recently had to do this for my 181.FM stations as well.

Well i took the links from SL wiki and about 70% of them were dead. if only someone who has fresh links could update them... : p

Audio Streams Borked

Yes, yesterday about 1/2 of my audio streams stopped working. The ones that don't work in SL, work fine if I drop them into a standard web browser. Something has changed but no one seems to know anything.

At the time I saw this post appear on the forum I was actually streaming Groove Salad (via VLC), so the station itself was fine. I also checked streaming on our parcel (we use a Magnatune station there) and that was fine, too.

Shu, many of the stations on the wiki are also listed on:

http://www.zonkster.com/ibeam/music.htm

Hold your mouse over the station name for the URL.

Or click on "beam it" to beam the URL directly to your parcel from outworld (you'll need to be logged on with your zonkster personal code).

My partner had her ability to hear streams anywhere vanish. She finally fixed it by toggling some arcane Debug setting back and forth.

I agree...streams have been wonky the last couple of days. First more lag and rubberbanding, then the group chat flaffle, now this. What's next, failed transactions again?

Thanks everyone for your replies. I'm guessing it's an SL problem then. But I'd like to check the Groove Salad url is still the same, but don't know how to go about finding it. The one I originally got was just from a post of urls someone made here in the forums ages ago.

I'm not sure if it will work for you, but go to somafm.com, you'll find all their streams on the front page. Open it in your media player, on your pc. Somewhere in your media player, you'll find the URL for the stream.

As was said, music has been intermittent, of late. Often, I find if i go off the land parcel, then back again, the music returns.

I checked this whole list back in April 2009 so it should still be fairly current. I tend to lean towards listening to SomaFm stations but there is something for everyone in the list. Checked Groove Salad and it definitely works. Happy groovin' '
