Amusement park recreations?

I was recently checking out the Wikipedia on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, and noticed they had a Quicktime VR page. Well, it got me thinking, "I bet there are ride recreations in Second Life, somewhere."

Now, I know they probably wouldn't be Disney, since there would be huge copyright issues, but does anyone know of any cool amusement park ride recreations in SL that are worth checking out?

I love using SL as a way to "travel" on a budget. :)

Actually there is a Disneyesque theme park build in sl called Mouse World that really is great. I highly recommend checking it out. Prim Hearts also is a nice Amusement Park and Atom Burma's Carnivale (I think it's called) is also just excellent. I'm at work now so don't have slurl's to post but I'm sure you could find them all in search. Good luck.

Yep click my picks page in-world to see the 'disney ish' theme park. It's actually really, really good. If Disney isn't in on it - I dunno. It seems very official and well done.

Long Island Amusement Park is another, I think. Or theme park...I dunno. But yes there are some in SL. Just use search phrases. Search/places.

(The Flintstones park in my picks isn't bad, either.)

If you want to rez your own amusement park rides, check out Adam Burma's work. You can rent/buy various setups by the week or longer. Really nice quality and fun rides. He also have side show set ups and games.

I was shown one recently.
Alice in wonderland theme ride. It's very good.
It's a spooky ghost-train type ride.

About a week ago I had an adventure on an inner tube ride - sort of like a log flume ride, but with a big inner tube. The ride itself is kind of fun, though short. But I somehow missed the pool you're supposed to land in at the bottom. the inner tube shot out cross country with me in it - and it goes pretty fast.

I steered over to a Linden road and it didn't seem to matter how far from the ride it got. As long as I held on, it raced down the road at crazy speed. That was a lot of fun. I managed to make the inner tube do it again by jumping a shallow place in the pool, though it took a lot of attempts.

I think it would be fun to gather a bunch of folks and make the inner tubes like bump cars in the pool, assuming it lets you rez several at once.

The location is K-Party Entertainment Center, Windermere 243,105,107. The ride costs L$1.

[Edit: I think it only lets you rez two inner tubes, now that I ponder on it.]

I believe Atom Burma recently moved Carnivale to its own sim? I think he posted here about it, anyway. Haven't tried to find the new one yet, but visited the old setup and it was very nice.

I'd also like to point out Highwood, located at Ease 21/192/23 . Ferris Wheel, bumper cars, carnival rides, skating, all free. It's owned by a couple friends of mine, but I have no financial or other stake. I just like it and think it's worth a visit.

I wish I could point you to the old Carnivale Royale build, but alas, it is no more.

The "Carnival of Doom" amusement park (
slurl.com/secondlife/Carnival%20of%20Doom/182/70/26/) is still fun, though some of the rides and games got broken when Havok4 came along, and have never been fixed. This is a Rezzable creation, so is beautifully done. They moved the store area from the huge shed out back to right by the rez-in area, but it is still very worthwhile to go inside all the buildings and see what's there. Fun particularly to do with a friend. Be sure to get something to eat. Death lurks around the corner on the rides, but is kinda fun :)

The Hobo Island sim next door, a welcome area for noobs, is also a lot of fun to just explore, though it is not an amusement park.

Alice In Wonderland Dark Ride is really great, and it's in a great build.

Black Pearl Beach (206, 112, 32)

If you stray into the adjoining sim into the evil clown funhouse, you are doing it against my advice. Hehe.

I started putting up a wiki of neat places to visit in SL, one of the pages was Amusement Parks (http://exploringvirtualworlds.wikidot.com/amusement-parks-in-second-life). Some of these may or may not still be around. I got distracted with music in SL and developed that more.

Well, here's the list, no need to force people to leave the forum. :)
- Alphaland
- Bentham Manor Haunted Mansion http://slurl.com/secondlife/Sevenfold/197/132/170
- Bigfoot's River of Horror
- Carnival of Doom - a Rezzable sim http://slurl.com/secondlife/Carnival%20of%20Doom/180/134/24
- Comcast Island
- Dinosaurs Park http://slurl.com/secondlife/Dinosaurs%20Park/90/80/2
- Encogia Amusement Park http://slurl.com/secondlife/Encogia/136/158/23
- Escapade Zoo and Safari Park
- Falln Amusement http://slurl.com/secondlife/Falln%20Amusements/128/128/24
- Flossbergs Animated City
- Fluffyland Amusement Park
- Guided Tour Company
- Harbor Town Amusement Park
- Kawasan Land
- Lane Land Fun Park http://slurl.com/secondlife/Lane%20Land%20Resort/88/89/22
- Long Beach Carnival and Amusement Park
- Misty Acres http://slurl.com/secondlife/Misty%20Acres/241/52/26
- Nyte N Day Amusement Park http://slurl.com/secondlife/Couture%20Isle/125/235/22
- Prim Hearts http://slurl.com/secondlife/Prim%20Hearts/11/29/28
- Utopians Pleasure Beach

I know at least one is gone, Comcast is gone. Ah, at least two, Kawasan Land had removed the rides last time I was there.

Some are more theme parks (more .. .um, theme - like Dinosaurs), some are more amusement parks (more rides).

Note, Slurls are at least 104 days old.
