UGH! I hate this new viewer! What is up with the camera!? |

This new viewer is REALLY pissing me off! Sorry, but it is! The camera while alt clicking on an avie goes all over the place! It's ridiculous, I had to log into the old viewer just to take pictures. Pleeeease SL fix this!

Which version of the client? Check your camera settings in Preferences to see if you can tune it a bit there. I don't really have too much problem unless I click on a mega-prim -- then who knows where my view will end up.

I had this problem last night while trying to take pictures, using the regular old 1.22.11.113etc.
I've never really had it before, so I assumed there was something new and weird going on, server side (? or some other thing beyond my technical expertise) since I hadn't changed viewers or settings. I couldn't click on anything reliably and it was super frustrating. |

It's the newest one that I was prompted to download. It looks like the camera either resets itself to look down at the chest of the avatar or up high looking at the sky . . . it's really messed up. I have no manual control over my camera, I have to use the on screen camera controls and I hate those.

1.23.RC - Camera > Please add (return) method of adjusting camera physics.  While SL can be used for everyday "communications": business meetings, friends hanging out, romantic encounters and more; many many people use Second life for machinema creation, for filming presentations, and many more just use it to build stuff. Camera behaviour is important. It's very important to the perception of lag, to experiences of vertigo, etc. If a camera moves too slowly for one person, they can begin to feel that "SL is too slow" likewise if the camera moves to quickly for others, or too fluidly (or not fluidly enough) it can trigger sensations of vertigo or motion sickness. Slow smooth movements are great for machinema, but are lousy when you're building or driving a car. The best idea then, is to provide controls so that the end user can adjust these settings to their own personal preferences. Ever since Windlight was released, SL has provided me with handy controls that allowed ME to choose my own camera preferences.. setting it to zippy-quick for building, and smooth and slow when filming a tutorial. 1.23.RC0 removed these settings from the Edit > Preferences > Input & Camera settings panel. There is no new viewer right now. Only a release candidate. The features in it are not slated for release until it's reviewed with a number of revisions sent out to the residents willing to test it. Any problems you find should be reported to and commented on in the Jira. That has nothing to do with the RC client that the OP is talking about. (=_=) And, the notice isn't in regards to a new client. Anyone else notice in the RC you now can't zoomout as far away as you used to, makes it hard working with megaprims when you can't see the whole 80m prim. I've noticed. You have to disable camera constraints to zoom further. I've also noticed a lot of camera quirks that bug me. _____________________

Pleeeease SL fix this! I heard a while back that the new viewer does not allow other avatars to be zoomed in on unless they are age verified. Test: try it on some who are, and see. |

Interestingly, I have had this problem with megaprims since i started in SL, and with several viewers. I have major problems camming around in builds or areas that use megaprims. never met anyone else with this issue either.. I've had problems with the old megaprims at times but, I've since replaced them with the new ones, and had no problems till this latest viewer but it's really only a zoom restriction problem. _____________________
