500 Regions unavailable
Posted by Status Desk on May 30th, 2008 at 09:38 pm PDT 500 regions are currenty unavailable due to a networking issue. Ops is aware of the problem and is working to correct it. Please monitor this post for updates as they become available. prolly a related issue, expect to see the usual comments about do not do any transactions, etc _____________________

I had some of those problems tonight. Relogging and moving to a different region did seem to help, but there were the usual weekend troubles with TPing, transactions, and even flying.
Are your troubles just tonight, or since you returned in general? _____________________

I'm replying to this thread because i don't want to start a new one, and it seems the op has had the same problems i am experiencing now.
It's been 5 days now that i'm encountering a bizarre kind of crash. Everything is normal and the next second i find myself unable to do anything. My avi can't walk, or talk. The chat does not appear anymore, i can't tp or interact with objects or other avis, and if i'm on a position i can't stand up. It's strange because it's not like the usual crash when the window just closes down. Here the sl windows stays on and everything seems normal, other avis keep moving, and if i'm on an animation my avi keeps moving normally. I have not been able to find anything in the support section of the website or in the forum. It's really annoying cos it happens all the time now (every 5 or 10 minutes) and i can't use sl normally anymore. I thought it was due to the recent network problems, but they've been resolved, and the problem goes on for me. It would be very nice if anyone could help, tell me what's the cause of it and how to fix it. Thanks in advance. |

your not alone, although the flying issue forme has gone away.
I to have experinced all these. Sl at times runs truble free and other days its like working in cement. I finally dumped all my viewers and SL related downloads and started fresh. That seemed to help a little. Im having problems with settign permissions all of sudden, everything wants to revert back to full perms somewow. driving me nuts. even after I change and save it i'll coem back in a minute and bang full perms again. I cant build anything for sale. |

I used to have this from time to time on an old router of mines dat would cut out cuz of an incompatibility with my web modem. It could also be other things, like the region going down. Basically, you are disconnected from SL, but not crashed, and are running off whatever was cached for your current environment. Everything is there from when the disconnect happened, but it can't update. _____________________

Now it happens every time i use sl like every 5 or 10 minutes, and it's been going on for almost a week. I use a Wanadoo livebox. |

Not exactly the same troubles, but still worth eyeballing. http://neilrobinson.wordpress.com/ _____________________

Surefire way to tell if you have been disconnected. . . . Check your mini-map, it always goes red when you have lost connection.

I've tried everything i could. I changed the network and graphics settings, i tried the older viewer but i still crash. I had another kind of strange crash, when i started walking and my avatar kept walking and walking, going through walls always in the same direction, i couln't stop it. The only thing i could do was logging off. Anyway the only thing left now is just leaving sl for a while, a few weeks maybe, and hopefully when i come back the problem will be gone.

Thats sometimes a sign that you've lost connection with the sim (or the grid). Are you on a wireless internet connection? Or is your connection unstable in some other way? You might not notice a half-second break in net connection if you're browsing the WWW, but if you're in SL you'll get that effect as your av continues to do the last thing it was doing when connection was lost. It may come back on it's own if connection is re-established. _____________________
