2. Is it free ? Or how much ?
3. What should be prepared or noticed ?
4. In SL, is it company or group to be approved by SL official ?
Thanks.

Nope you don`t have to register like you do in RL, which makes for creating "companies" here a pretty easy start up.

A group costs $L100 to set up and register with SL. It needs two members at all times or will be disbanded by LL.

SL doesnt need any formal "paperwork" so dont worry about it

However, My jurisdiction does require a buisness certificate and Tax ID form, in order to legally do buisness from my home or office.

so for $40.00 USD every 5 years, i filled out the forms and I am official in RL (sole proprietor) .

It also establishes the company name and its date of first use, should trademark, copywrite or whatever, be an issue ( please no IP related comments, i did this under advice from a RL Attorney)

And of course I pay tax on anything i make in SL

I would suggest anyone cashing out good money should do these two things, regardless of their country.

Isn't tax evasion the duty of every citizen? How else can we bring our governments under control?

If I cancel out the amount of money I have 'spent' in SL (from Lindens purchased before I began creating content, renting etc) the money I 'spend' on tier...I dont think I've made but a few bucks in SL! You want taxes out of that, come and take the lil bit o'change

Well let me rephrase that.

I would suggest anyone making a nice profit to pay taxes on it. (I was not aware people were cashing out such little sums of money)

If you don`t agree with that then ok, to each their own.

I also thought I read somewhere before that if you`re making atleast 1k in the US you`re required to pay tax on it. I don`t know though, read it on these forums not sure how true it is lol

For anyone in the UK, just register as self-employed, pay about £2 a week tax and you can earn upto £4900ish a year plus reasonable expenses without paying any extra tax.

Plus if you can split into smaller businesses each gets their own equal allowance as above, a trick often used in barbers/hairdressers which class each chair as a separate business for tax purposes :)

I didn't know there were any "free states" left in the world. Even sl isn't.

I assume you've worked out what your business will be and how you will do it (shop, service or whatever)? You will probably need to buy or rent land or mall space - that is a whole other set of questions!.

But in terms of setting up a business, you will need a business name and some sort of coherent marketing policy around that name, including a Logo.

Can I suggest that, once you've thought of a name you'd like to use, you check in Classifieds Search, Land Search and Groups Search that nobody else is using that or a similar name? There was a thread in the forums a while back from someone whose successful business 'name' had been appropriated by someone else and caused confusion for both sets of customers. Before I started, I checked that nobody else was using the name Valentino in a shop or group or whatever.

It was suggested in that thread that it's a good idea to use your Avatar name as the basis for your business - so in your case "Heron's XXX" or "XXX by Jolly" (or something) might be good if nobody else is using it. I think this was cos it's easier to dissuade someone else who might try to use your name.

Hope this is of some help.
