Apologies if this has been asked before but I was wondering if anyone knows when Zindra plots will become available to the general public for purchase?

I thought it'd be soon after the migration tickets thingy finished but that's come & gone & I can't seem to find any more details :S

Cheers!

The tickets may have closed but the actual assigning of the plots to people hasn't finished. Because LL won't give us the details of how many tickets lodged or how far they are along we really have no idea.

I think the latest date for the viewer lockdown is early sept, so I'm assuming at that point they think that all the swap land will have been assigned and people will have moved.

The short answer is: we don't know and they won't tell us.

The GOOD news is apparently they have finally at least went WIP (work in progress) on all first day tickets....and seems a lot of those are finished. We have gotten a LOT of different numbers from people, but sit tight.. They will be happy to rape you of your money soon enough :)

My best guess is they are 80% done with the early batch of tickets. Theres an unknown number of late tickets that came out of the email and login screen messages. The early batch were heavily weighted to the first hour and day, cause they told us it would be "first come, first served", so the people who knew tried to all be first :-)

So about another week to finish processing the early batch, plus whatever number of late tickets showed up, which I have not seen a figure for how many there are. If I had to guess, I would say another week for those, so mid-August plus whatever added time they need to prepare and announce for the auctions.

850 tickets. Supposed to be done by beginning of next week.

Do you know if that's the total submitted or if that's just the number approved?

/me tries to figure out if she is surprised by that number or not.

850???? Is that all? I thought it would be some overwhelming number to hear how indignant the alleged people allegedly clamoring for removal of adult content from Mainland were-

Submitted. 600+ of those were in that first few minutes, however.

(citing source: this information largely came from Jack Linden's Office Hours, but a dash of Blondin's might be in there, too.)

I was a bit surprised. From the sound of everything before the fact, I expected to hear of thousands. What I also wonder (I'm not good with math) what percentage 850 is of the overall *active* SL population, and how close to "2-4%" it is. Bearing in mind that some probably did not file tickets (either quitting or risking it), too.

Looks like the migrations will be done on Tuesday...

From Jack Lindens office hours on 30th:

http://www.slapt.me/wiki/index.php/Office_Hours_Transcript_-_Jack_Linden:_07-30-2009

From: someone
[11:06] Jack Linden: so.. we're looking like finishing the Zindra migrations this Tuesday, we've done about 85% of them so far
[11:07] Jack Linden: so it looks to have taken us about as long as we expected though we've had to put more bodies on it than we'd thought

Ok- so it's been a month since I asked my original question and, despite trying to keep an eye on every official channel that I can find, I still have no idea when Zindra land is supposed to be going up for sale/auction.

What the fudge is going on?! The wait is killing me! I need to expand my business in an adult content direction but I've had to postpone it for well over a month now... despite owning mature land & paying tier. The only funny thing about all this has been looking at the land rental prices in some parts of Zindra...

traffic and sales are apparently down across the board, the land is laggy and LL have decided to impose the filter on 1.22 "soon" but aren't going to tell anyone nor are they going to make 1.23 mandatory. They're not going to take any action against adult businesses on the mainland who flout the secret word list unless there's an AR and the word list is so pathetic that for the majority it is easy enough to work around. i.e. escorts need to be on zindra but prostitutes, sex workers and whores don't.

Why would you ever consider coming here? Do you have a death wish for your business or something?

I know & I agree- I don't actually want to buy land in Zindra, I have no choice due to LL's dammed adult policy. I'm planning on making erotic/sexually themed sculptures and if I try to sell/advertise them on my current land (i.e. with my regular non erotic sculptures) I could end up:

1) Putting my entire business at risk of getting blocked from search
2) Getting ARed on a regular basis
3) Dooming the erotic/sexually themed line to failure from the start because I can't advertise it

I'm really not happy about the whole thing- the land is mature & I've paid my tier so why should I have to buy more land & pay more tier for creating a product that some might not even consider to be adult content?

However, at the end of the day, I just want to progress with my business- LL aren't going to change the stupid policy any time soon, nanny/police state has unfortunately won so you just have to roll with the blows... to crappy land in Zindra...

Yes all of the above, but there is the clause "We may take into account whether apparent or reported adult content or conduct on a particular Region serves only an extremely limited or passive function, or an important educational or cultural function, and therefore would be appropriate for all Second Life audiences."

For the millions of people who want "predictable" - and particularly the millions who have yet to hear about SL and sign up, even a handful of unpredictable would be too much.

Searches on naughty words still find Mainland parcels that should be swapping to Zindra.
Maybe these have late tickets after the LL emails. Maybe not.

There's still confusion on the ground.
After yesterday's LL email to island owners, I got a group message from one telling everyone that they would have to Age Verify as the sim was about to be flagged as Adult...... duh!

PS: on the Thread Title "ETA on Zindra free for all?"
"Free" Ha! That phase is nearly over. :)

Well the 850 would just represent the number of current businesses wanting to move or aquire Zhinra plots for adult use or flipping, there may be still pletnty of people wanting to start new businesses or just live there for other purposes.

There were well more than 850 tickets filed.
300 in the first 10 minutes, 600 the first DAY, then add 2 weeks of tickets files, then the *you need to swap* letter went out THE NIGHT BEFORE tickets were due to close. They were so inundated with tickets, they accepted them for three extra days. They stop filling tickets due to the sheer number received, took some days to catch up, had to bring more sims online, and still are just finishing tickets. The letter went out last night about people having to Flag adult, or move mid-September.. that's just over 2 weeks away.

They are finally finishing the first wave of moves, and considering the lack of publicity about it, i think they have NO idea whats fixing to happen when the rest of the general population of SL finds out whats going on. Already posts here people saying.. whats this letter and whats it mean?

They are setting up land for auction now... what small bit remains, and looking at the map, seems more sims should be coming up.

2-4% is all they informed to begin with... lets see what happens when everyone else finds out.

Actually, I think we'll have a better chance of winning the lottery than figuring out the information from the Lindens.

Curious about the Emerald Viewer and all the features?

At this stage, it must be ultra-difficult for anyone to find unallocated parcels that they can nominate for swap in the support ticket.
It was bad enough when Zindra was empty.

Maybe we're so close to auction time now that LL could do what I suggested way back - just set the unallocated land as 'preparing for auction' so that it shows in purple on the map , but isn't yet in the auction queue.

I seem to recall that the 850 figure was from Jack, the same Linden who rather surprised some of us when he said he'd only had 10 people tell him they objected to the changes in the first place, and that it referred to the situation during the last week they were accepting tickets; that is, before the email went out and they were so inundated with requests they decided to accept applications for a couple of days extra. So I think the actual final figure will be somewhat higher.

It's important to remember that one ticket may -- and, to my knowledge, frequently did -- represent an application from a group of people who wanted to get full-, half- or quarter-sim together rather than apply for much smaller parcels individually. So 850 (or whatever the final number is) certainly doesn't represent the total number of people actually moving.

And for adult clubs, a single club can represent a lot of staff and guests moving and spending their time there.

For shopping areas, one move ticket for a mall means a lot of stores moving.
