Can I get my returned stuff back?

My alt owns some land, and I rezzed something there (a panel) which was invisible - I think I must have embedded it in the wall. Anyway, I couldn't find it, so I simply got my alt to return all my objects to me.

I had about 70 prims, and 8 of them (a tree) have been returned. The others are missing, presumed deleted. I checked my Lost and Found, I looked for objects with the multi-cube icon, and I rezzed anything in there called "Object" just to check - but no, they've gone completely.

Do I just have to go and buy new stuff (it was mainly furniture) again, or is there a way of getting "returned" stuff back?

often you will have a bunch of prims locked together that take the name of only one of the prims in the pile. So you might have a clump called 'mailbox' and it's actually a mailbox, a house, and the family dog. Just as an example.

was any of it locked?your alt cannot move your locked items or return them to you..

I don't think this is true - at least not in all cases. I just logged my alt in and had her create a box at the house and lock it. I did a return on it and it is now in her Lost and Found folder.

ETA: I verified this after my alt took my rights to modify her stuff away so I did not have those rights at the time.



If you deed a No Transfer item to group, then I think it might disappear for ever if it is Returned.

does your alt own the land or you?

if it's all in one cube, and there is (no copy) stuff in there, you'll probably lose all your no copy items from this decision. next time, highlight things you own, or highlight transparency, to find your hidden object.

my mistake ..i read it wrong.i thought you were the land owner and your alt was returning things.

Nope, nothing was locked - and the stuff has physically gone. I did try highlighting transparent to find the panel I rezzed - I guess I should have just taken the stuff myself before getting my alt to return it.

I assumed "return" meant what it said, and it would be returned - not destroyed.

I've just tried clearing cache, waiting 10 minutes and relogging - but still no luck, so I guess it's going to be an expensive shopping trip!

I own the land, the alt is simple a group member. She made the box and locked it and then I returned it.


ETA: That is not totally correct. The group owns the land and I am a group owner but the alt is not.

Ok - now I understand. Yeah, my alt would not be able to return my stuff even though I can return hers.

did you try rezzing the tree item and other items that might have been there even if the icon shows a single prim box icon

I have had coalesced items that did not show the proper icon before

Try clearing cache, sometimes things turn up

perhaps LL can do a rollback on your sim.

And I've had single prims show the coalesced icon.

one thing that might work is manualy deleting the cache files, clearing cache from within the viewer does not realy delete them and som things get hung up still.

it will be like a clean install cache wise and realy force sl to rebuild your inventory on your harddrive.

Hi this sounds very similar to what I just did -- however, I own the land, and I was the one that returned all my items... I accidently returned everything -- now I can't find most of it. Ive gone through 5 times and tried to find the items.. I owned all the items but did not necessarily create them all -- if they are items i purchased and are no copy, do they then get deleted?

even stuff i did create seems to have gone missing -- and i have checked all icon types.


ideas?
