I don't have paypal account or a credit card. Can I pay with using a money order every month?
If I can what would be the address I would send it to and attention to whom?

No Sorry Knowledge Base Second Life Info > Your Account > Billing Issues > Do I need a credit card or Paypal? What if I don't have one? If you sign up for a Basic account, no payment method is required. You may select the Basic membership at no cost, which will give you full access to Second Life with no membership fees. Without a credit card or a verified Paypal account, however, it's not possible to register or pay for a Premium level account, nor buy/sell Linden Dollars. L$ purchases, membership fees, land use fees and use of the LindeX exchange all require a payment method on file. Additional Basic accounts (beyond a first account at any payment level) may be subject to a US$9.95 setup fee. Rating: Rating of 1 Stars ( 19 Votes) _____________________

one thing that may help.
get a prepaid mastercard. Most drug stores are carrying them now. I live in Georgia, and we have a "Rite Aid" drug store down the road, but I can ride down there give the cashier 20 bucks cash and she swipes the prepaid credit card and loads the money onto it. I can then use the cash immediately. They do charge a small fee for loading cash is how they make money but its real nice. If I want to purchase items online I just run down to the drugstore load the cash onto the card then use it immediately. works out nicely. |

Debbie, one thing I asked these members about a premium account and they said one would not really need one unless they were thinking of buying land on SL.
I don't know your purpose for wanting one or what you do on SL but you might want to find out if it would even be necessary to pay for the premium account. |

I don't like to camp and I want to use the stipend to save and buy a little 512 parcel so I can have a place to call home. |

Premium accounts also allow you to use the Trouble Ticket support and web-based support chat. I've had fairly good luck with the Trouble Tickets, but generally found the web-based chat support to be not terribly useful (they end up telling you to file a trouble ticket). _____________________

OK I don't think anyone mentioned this when I asked about it but it sounds like there could be some bennies, and yeah if Debbie is wanting land or a home... |

They do charge a small fee for loading cash is how they make money but its real nice. If I want to purchase items online I just run down to the drugstore load the cash onto the card then use it immediately. They charge huge fees. At least, I think $4.95 is a high fee for depositing money into a no-interest account, and which will earn them additional fees as the money is taken out. Plus $4.95/month. See https://www.greendotonline.com/Contents/Products.aspx for example. |

Some debit cards, aka "check cards", will work, depending on the situation.

Debbie, there is no need to have a Premium account unless you necessarily want to buy your land on the Mainland.
As long as you have your card registered in your profile, you can buy Linden dollars to use for your shopping needs and you can buy or rent land/houses/apartments in Private Regions. Plenty of 512 sq m parcels available everywhere at reasonable prices. No Premium Account needed, as long as you find them on Private Regions. |

Count me as one of the, "If you are looking for a home, don't go premium. Rent it," crowd. For that, you'll only need a prepaid card to be able to purchase L$ to send to your landlord.
Here's a downside most people don't realize about being premium: If ever you miss a payment (and it can be for issues with LL's billing dept), you can have your account and inventory deleted. Not put on "hold", but outright deleted. With renting, you'd only have to worry about your land going bye-bye. And honestly, the other benefits of being a premium aren't worth squat. I don't really use the support system and when I do, it tends to be "ZOMG! EVERYTHING IS CRASHY!" level of needing help. And while I'm a grandfathered premium, the part of the monthly fee is better off spent in buying L$ than it is in getting a weekly stipend. The ONLY reason to ever go premium is if you want mainland and the assurance that as long as nothing goes wrong with billings, that the only thing that will make your land vanish is LL dying. In that case, we're all screwed anyways. There are plenty of reputable estate owners out there who have excellent customer service and provide covenants that keep things a bit more peaceful. Plus, you usually don't have to file an AR and then wait for an object that is crossing your property line to be removed... _____________________

there are so many nice communities in sl that are on private islands that even as a basic account you can buy the land and even sell the land..it's all really just renting server space anyways..
if you wanted to buy mainland or maybe get a sim is about the only time i would think you would need to be premium.. the only thing i have missed from switching to basic is my 400 a week stripen.. _____________________
