This is in SL?!?!?!? It's pretty impressive on my daughter's fast computer. I wish there was one for a place that I have lived. San Francisco area would be great. Philly's ok, though. _____________________

Heh heh.
I think this has the most detailed modeling of any 3D model of a real place that I've seen. It seems more detailed than Google's 3D modeled cities. _____________________

when, oh, when, will VW platform developers show Mac users some love?
I so want to know if you can visit virtual McGlinchy's or Dirty Frank's- maybe wander over to TriTone and say hi to Dave... the whole idea just cracks me up. I might just have to start running windows to see this one. |

I believe those three bars are all outside the area that's included in the model at present. They are a bit too far southeast.
I'll try to find or make a map of the area covered later today. _____________________

I sent an email to info@geosimphilly.com and support@geosimphilly.com asking about Mac and Linux support.
Those wanting a version for non-Windows platforms might send them an email as well. _____________________

I can't help thinking back to the 80's and 90's when I wanted to enhance my illustration business with with some software design and paint programs, and just about got laughed out of the market because I had a PC.
This looks really cool. I can't wait until someone puts up a virtual Moon and Mars, if they haven't already. I'd like to walk around those worlds. |

In response to my emails to info@geosimphilly.com and support@geosimphilly.com I got a reply from Dr. Victor Shenkar, CEO of GeoSim Systems Ltd., as follows:
Thanks for your interest in our Virtual Philly. Unfortunately for time being, we support Windows-based applications only. I know that new Mac's with a dual-mode Operating System run our application pretty well. So if you want Mac or Linux versions of GeoSim applications, send a request to those addresses and the head of the company may be the one that reads them instead of a low-level clerk or a third party semi-automated customer service department. _____________________

Personally, I'm holding out for Virtual Newark I don't know why its Philadelphia. I'd like San Francisco or D.C. for familiarity. New York, Paris, and Beijing for site-seeing. This system shows the dumpsters in the alleys. I think it be where dumpsters actually are. It would be interesting to see mobile phone's and vehicle's GPS and other location data incorporated to show where people and cars actually are. It would also be nice to have live web cams incorporated into this so you could see the real view from spots that you find in the model. _____________________
