Is there a website or place to monitor sim crashes? Griefers love to attack gay and or furry sims. It is a minor insignificant inconvenience, but I would find it interesting to see how frequent sims are crashed and be mindful of wave attacks.

Ther's no site or page that I'm aware of, that ranks sims based on things like "restarts" or "time since last restart" or "number of crashes" etc. it'd be an interesting project. I wonder if that information isn't already accessable.. just waiting for someone to come around and build that sort of page.

I'm gay in real life but i would stay well clear of any gay furry sims for the simple fact that LL can ban you just for being there with no right of appeal. could happen to anyone, didnt to me thankfully but did 2 a good freind

Not "with no right of appeal." Whatever the friend may have told you, if they were unjustly banned, they can get back in-world by filing a support ticket. If the case is "borderline" the appeal can get quite involved and elaborate and take a lot of time, but if it's a simple, clear-cut case of mistaken identity, LL reviews their records and it's fixed in short order.

Mistakes can happen, even with RL law enforcement. But when a friend plays the "victim of authority" act too strenuously, one can pretty much bet s/he's full of it.

And?

And what, Ricardo? There was a question from the OP, you know?

Yes, its called the Beta Grid. You can monitor sim crashing there. You're even encouraged to crash them yourself I hear. Some people get medals and everything, from LL, when they do even =)

To what end would this information benefit you specifically? If you're just curious, IM the owners of such sims and ask them. They might tell you. But they also may be paranoid and not answer. I know it's not information I'd give out to a stranger.

Thank you for the information. So no place exists yet for the live grid that is publicly accessible. It would be neat if it existed in the future. It is just interesting and could find some interesting correlations, risk analysis, and preemptive defense. You could also determine which sim are the most reliable and are under the least threat.

Thankfully and unfortunately most places that do have increased threat disable build, scripting, and push at the minimum, which helps.

Wait... What? (O_o)

What part of being a gay furry is a bannable offense? Under what line of the TOS? I see furries, baby furs, gay furries, gay baby furs, and then some... All the time. I've never EVER seen a bannable offense from any of them. (o.o)

In all my time in SL, it's very rare to see a gay sim being griefed. I also rent land to a furry club, as far as I'm aware, they've never had any problems.

In my opinion, most griefing happens because of irresponsible land or club owners. Does your land really need to be full build & script access to anyone that wanders onto it? Do you have auto-return switched on? Does the club owner have trusted "friends" from different time zones that can be given kick, ban rights? It won't stop all griefing, but it would make a difference.

As for banned from SL for being gay and furry? It's not against the TOS, no. But, I would hazard to guess, your friend was doing something that earned at least one AR.

I know a number of places have been under attack this week, though what I've seen is pretty lame newbie stuff. Haven't heard anything about sim crashes.

Yes. LL, based in San Francisco, is well known for their intolerance of such things.

...In my opinion, most griefing happens because of irresponsible land or club owners....
Most griefing happens because griefers derive their enjoyment from the emotional discomfort, or even better, from the emotional pain of others... not because a particular venue does or doesn't take measures against it. Let's not blame the quality (or even lack) of locks for the presence of thieves.

You can take as many measures as you like... you can turn off build, push, voice, and scripts - you can put folks with admin privs on station 24/7/365, you can use freeze/ban/eject/orbs/Banlink or whatever the next tactic against gratuitous virtual violence might become available - but if at any stage you provide griefers with the emotional feedback they seek, they'll continue to target and probe and eventually find a way to elicit the reaction they crave.

Yes, put preventive and proactive measures in place. However, also take care to not become the 'endboss' in whatever level of the game griefers might think they're playing that day... don't become engaged in drama, controversy, conversation, or any other form of tete-a-tete with these folks, in any form (this is an 'ideal' goal - something to strive for... I know from experience that this is much easier said than done).

The optimal state is to not even acknowledge that they exist. Instead, let each of their interactions with your venue simply result in them confronting just one more realization of their own impotence. If you can do this, they'll eventually congratulate each other on their prowess in putting you in your place - and then they'll just quietly... disappear.

My two cents.

Be well :) .

I can kinda see that this would be interesting and maybe even informative to those responsible for responding to such attacks. And indeed, if I knew an attack was coming, I'd "batten down the hatches" on my own parcels, restricting permissions that I generally leave open for everybody's convenience, but that makes possible some forms of griefing.

But on balance, it would be of much greater interest and gratification to the folks doing the griefing. It would be like the "scoreboard" for attacks. And that would be counter-productive.

I could see a site that tracks sim crashes and their causes being useful for those of us who live and buy land on the mainland. If I were looking to buy land, I could reference the site for sims with decent performance/fewer crashes and find out how high the prices were for the land in those sims :p

Or better yet.. people looking to rent land.. or spaces in shopping malls. It'd be nice if we could see "system failures" by region as well.. wouldn't that be cool? like an SL weathermap.
