Okay...figured out how to do gesters and such. But noticed it will only allow a certain amount of text in one single text gester? Is there a way to allow for more rather then adding additional individual text gesters? It breaks up the info and makes it hard to read.

I've seen gestures with a ton of text. It only allows a certain amount of text per text line in the gesture, you just have to add more if I am not mistaken. Wow, been a long time since I made one lol

that's weird, because I can copy paste a whole paragraph in the open public chat field and it all comes out great. But I can't copy/paste that same paragraph into one single chat gester? It cuts it off after a certain amount? (didnt bother counting the text limit)

I'm not inworld, but I believe you'll be able to put more text in the lower portions of the gesture interface than in the "replace with" field. I believe that's limited to only 31 characters or something.

Ya thats the field im talking about (the lower portion). it only allows for a certain number then cuts us off. :(

Under the hood, a gesture is sort of like a mini script, and the whole thing (all the steps) has to fit into 1000 bytes or it won't save.

You can go into floater_preview_gesture.xml, find the <line_editor ....> tag, and boost max_length up from 127 to, say, 1000 or whatever. But, you'll still get less than the 1000, the actual limit depending on how many steps your gesture has and what they do. Preview will work if the text is too long, but save would fail if you go over the limit.

(also, even if it saves, you may find it still truncates somewhere around 512)

I was just thinking- Oh Joy.. another one to cloud the air. Last night I was at Bacchus - there was this repetitive car horn thing- over and over and over- argh!!!!!!

There's a gesture that quotes the entire 'Ezekial' speech, from Pulp Fiction, in both text and sound. It's quite cool, when you're new, but it takes at least 2 attempts to load into cache and play unbroken, and you soon tire of such things.

Long gestures are annoying, as are hoots, party horns, howls etc. played endlessly at a tacky club near you.

Worked great..exactly what I was looking for. Thanks! BTW, its purpose is not to flood the room with text...the message I wanted to use was just slightly over the limit by a couple letters....was driving me crazy!
