If you were once premium, and you downgrade to basic, you can still donate tier to land? And if you notice this little glitch on your account, and fiddle with it to see if it actually works, LL will charge you a monthly tier fee, even if you only donated for less than a minute, testing your abilities of their stupid glitch. Someone explain to me how this is possible? I mean, why ever upgrade and pay the premium fees if after one month (or whatever) of premium you can downgrade yet still donate tier to a group. so like, i discovered this and tested it by donating 2048 to a group just to see if i could, and now LL wants to charge me US$15 for my 30 second land donation... which i reported to them immediately as a glitch. i'm pissed.

Damn. If only you'd tried to donate 1536, we'd know if you still got the 512 premium bonus, too, despite not being premium. I wonder if you'll start getting stipend again.

I don't think you even need to have ever been premium and I've had people tell me they've been dinged for deeding on private estate land, I'm assuming that they ticked the owner makes contribution box, but the parcel they were told by LL that was responsible for a tier fee was a private estate parcel.

Before the free accounts it used to be that the 9.95 one time fee acts COULD own land and pay tier. They just got a 50L stipend instead of a 500L one. I wonder if this isnt residual code from then.

From: SuezanneC Baskerville That's me! Note to SuezanneC, Sarah Palin doesn't stink. I'm sure she wears a lovely perfume. Probably Eau de Rogue. When you get those gosh darn Arabic countries mixed up all the time, you gotta wear something nice, you bet.

My bet is it only lasts for the rest of the billing cycle no matter what the status says in your account/profile.

after many many many back and forth communications, and me reopening the ticket 3-4 times because of unsatisfactory resolutions, someone at Linden Labs not only understands my problem, but also sympathizes with it. I, of course, am happy with the outcome, but I also want to make sure I tell you all the outcome so that you may feel empowered to pursue your issues and not give up, AND make sure i give a hearty pat on the back to Marc of Linden Labs for being sensible and honest.
here's the final solution: "Hi 3Ring,
Thanks for contacting us about this Billing issue.
I apologise for the confusion in dealing with your query thus far, and I'm going to take a slightly different approach to the matter than my colleagues have previously.
It appears that you did indeed make some group donations which ordinarily would result in a land tier becoming chargable. However, you were only able to make these group donations because your account had maintained a land lease (the way we facilitate land ownership and billing) after you'd downgraded the account in 2008. Since you could in no way anticipate that your account could be charged for land that you weren't entitled, as a Basic Account Holder, to own; I have removed this forthcoming charge and have also removed the lease so that you will not be able to own land in future.
I hope that this resolves the matter to your satisfaction, however if there is anything further I can do for you please don't hesitate to contact us again.
Best,
Marc
