Today, I received the following email from Second Life: In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, we’re looking to improve the Second Life experience through the development of a new gift registry. This new feature might be used by registered partners and guests that attend your Second Life ceremonies and celebrations.
You can help by letting us know what you think about a gift registry and taking this short survey. Your feedback will be used in helping us develop this potential new service.
Also, it's not too late to send a heart-warming gift to your partner by using Xstreetsl.com. Check-out our new gift giving feature to see a collection of virtual gifts to send to someone special. Simply login, select an item and then simply click the "Purchase as a gift" button.
Happy Valentine's Day, Cupid Linden **************************************** I'm not sure how I feel about this. A lot of our sales for weddings are spur of the moment type things--people looking for last minute gifts. I'm not sure a gift registry would help "us". Of course, I hate this idea in RL as well, as it feels like every event is a "gift grab". I know it can help couples get exactly what they want instead of, say, twenty toasters, but it just rubs me the wrong way. Thoughts??

I'd welcome some sort of registry!! Many's the time I'm wracking my brain in SL, just as in RL, looking for just the right gift. And not just for weddings...for example, I like Amazon's wish lists...I've found them to be handy throughout the year, for birthdays, special holidays, and for times when there's no reason at all.

MANY is the time, that I wished that SLX had an "Amazon.com-like" public wishlist... frankly, I think that there are a LOT of uses for public SLX lists, beyond "buy me a present".
Here's an example. One of the RP clubs I belonged to over the years, had a required uniform, that was made up of 3 items I made, 1 item from KDC, 1 item from Powers of Creation, and 1 item from Fairlight Industries.
How awesome would it be, to be able to set up a hosted "list" of these items on SLX?
For that matter, I'd *LOVE* the ability to embed SLX listings in my shop's website.
... why didn't *I* get that email?

I actually would like a gift registry more in SL than in RL. I have many many times wanted this for friends partnering.

With the way ppl in SL partner and unpartner so often maybe this is something needed and if it could also show what you gave them last time that would be a good idea.
Oh and i do agree im so over the pushing of Xstreetsl.com its even being pushed when you log in
